Sadly died at the age of 77. Whether or not you are a football fan, he was at least part of our television lives for fifty-odd years.

I really liked him. Great sense of fun, incredible knowledge and a lovely personality.

Sad news. Such a lovely chap.

He was great & very much the voice of football when I was growing up. Very sad he’s died.

Very sad, seemed lovely and just had one of those iconic voices that I've loved to hear all my life.

Sad news - and Dickie Davis last week, both voices/faces that you thought would always be around

Sad news, met him a few years back and he was so lovely to my DS and signed an autograph for him. DS has met a few footballers, managers etc and John Motson is the one remembers meeting the most fondly.
