OMG OMG IT’S THE MOST DISGUSTING THING I HAVE EVER TASTED HOW DO PEOPLE DRINK IT? WHY?? IT TASTES LIKE GERMOLENE OINTMENT!

Well the Aldi version does anyway. Is this normal? I’d always wanted to try it. I think I’d imagined it tasting a bit like Dandelion and Burdock.

I agree. My DC love it though and always ask for some when I go to Aldi!

My dh and Ds love it, but only the AW brand one I think it’s called. They say the Aldi one is awful. But then they’re very brand snobby!

Yes it does taste and smell of TCP/ Germolene ! Had some in Florida once 🤣 never again !

I love it (though never tried the Aldi one), though I’m the first to admit it’s an acquired taste! I enjoy being able to get it everywhere when I’m in the states.

I personally don't like it all and tried it as a child when in the US. I'd seen it on lots of US TV shows and was SO disapponted. Yuck. Just like a muscle ache cream! Each to their own.

It is disgusting! I think I read that the ingredient in it is one commonly used in medicine in the UK but not the US which may explain why it's popular over there and why we think it tastes like germolene!

Omg I love it!! I grew up in America and it was my favourite soda. Yum! (And yes, it has to be AW).

McDonald's definitely did root beer into the 1990s. The germaliney goodness is much missed in our household

I love it. We used to sell it at the McDonald's I worked in in the 90's (Watford drive through). Supermarket version's always taste watered down though.

It's the worst drink ever and it does taste exactly like liquid Germolene.

I can’t get rid of the taste. I’m traumatised. I know each to their own and all that but good god. Surely they make germolene taste like that on purpose to DISSUADE people from ingesting it? That’s why medicine you’re not meant to eat doesn’t taste like strawberries or chocolate!

No. Nothing like it unfortunately. Ginger beer is delicious. Lick a little Germolene and that's exactly what it tastes like.

Actually best not lick it but it tastes just like Germolene smells. I can't understand the appeal.

My first though Germoline then < shudder> we had it America and it tastes like Germoline there too !

Root beer in the UK is not root beer. It’s gross. I grew up in the US and I love it, but I don’t know what the heck they put in root beer here as it’s disgusting.
