Hi all,

I’m wondering if you can share any experiences you have had if your child has an ASD diagnosis, particularly older children, my son is 9.

I have a meeting with school next week for an ASD referral but I’m still unsure wether he meets this criteria.

thanks

My dd was diagnosed age 8. I think you become your child's expert and often don't realise the adjustments you make to life to accommodate neurodiversity. I'd accept they want to explore asd as a possibility and let the experts ask the questions that will help identify whether that diagnosis is correct. It can take a couple of years but may be useful for secondary if he's struggling.
