Meptazinol (meptid) shortage?

I use meptid for breakthrough pain, only under certain circumstances, as I don't feel comfortable driving when I take it and only when my pain is really bad.
I put a request in for some more (and cocodamol which is ok for me to drive with).
I received a reply that said I could have the cocodamol but couldn't have the meptid as there is a supply issue.
Has anyone else been told this?
Thanks for reading.

Don’t take it myself but it appears from Google to be a national issue - see here for example psnc.org.uk/our-news/medicine-supply-notification-meptazinol-meptid-200mg-film-coated-tablets/

@Pinkypurplecloud, thanks for the reply and I know you're right.
I suppose I was hoping that someone would be in the same position as me and could tell me if they've found an alternative as Google doesn't help with that (and nor is my GP at present).

There are a number of drug shortages at the moment. Dd has had to scrabble around for dexamphetamine (narcolepsy) and twice I have had my steroids messed with. I’m hearing about other crucial meds too.

My husband's epilim is being rationed by the suppliers so the pharmacy are struggling to keep up with demand. Not great when it's such a crucial medicine for epilepsy and not one to mess around with. No advice for you unfortunately. It seems to be the way of things these days.
