Board/card games for 9?

Which board or card games would you recommend for nine or ten 10-11year olds to play together?

I can only think of Pictionary!

Dobble

BasiliskStare · 22/02/2023 19:20

This I think you can only get second hand but DS has been playing it since he was younger than ten - it is about spies - billed as adult but nothing dodgy in it if you see what I mean picclick.co.uk/The-Sigma-File-Adult-Spy-Board-Game-by-185753238278.html

Oh, so many!

Exploding Kittens
Village Greens
Saboteur
Uno
Werewolf

These are probably the favourites here.

We had dn aged 8 over in half term and she enjoyed /understood uno, 5 minute rule (removed a few questions), basic card games like go fish, connect 4 and ludo.

SBAM · 22/02/2023 19:27

Herd mentality- it was designed for big groups

HowToExplainRight · 22/02/2023 19:51

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads Oh that has the potential to be insane. I don't fancy having to ref that!

@BasiliskStare can you play that with 9? The amazon pages says 2 or 4 players.

@VenusClapTrap Saboteur - good idea, I even have that one! UNO also. I know they play Werewolf at school so I'm not sure its worth buying it.

Just one - very simple
Secret Hitler - like a complicated version of among us. With fascists

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 22/02/2023 20:18

Ah @HowToExplainRight I read your post as 9, 10 and 11 year olds. I see now it is 9 x (10-11) year olds.

Carriemac · 22/02/2023 20:18

Seconded.

We love Secret Hitler. Not that we have enough of us to play usually.

All very popular with the kids.

VenusClapTrap · 22/02/2023 21:30

Sorry I missed that this was for 9 or 10 players - I read it as ages 9 or 10. But saboteur would still work!

BasiliskStare · 23/02/2023 13:34

@HowToExplainRight - sorry I also missed it was for 9 or 10 players and just went for the age group - my mistake.

I've asked Dh ( his family used to love games & he can't think of on easily for 9 or 10 players .) Pictionary in teams was his advice or there is a thing called Kahoot - which needs an iPad or iPhone and needs some setting up - but a quiz thing which you can do individually or in teams depending on how many devices but it does require setting up beforehand to do the questions and obviously some devices.

On a less technical note what about the name in the hat. Everyone writes down a certain number of names on different small bits of paper fold them up , put them in a hat and take turns to draw one out & then have to act out the name to the rest of the players and who ever guesses the most wins. Very low tech but all it needs is enough pens and cut up bits of paper and a hat or indeed a large bowl to put them in. I and family and friends have had fun with this but then I am old 😊
