Is anyone else possessive over their belongings?

I've realised today how possessive I am over my belongings. I left my mug and lunchbox in work and I am off now on annual leave for nearly 2 weeks. I usually put my stuff in my locker but I have left these out and I keep thinking someone will take them. I know it sounds pathetic but its quite an expensive box and mug.
I think it stems from my childhood and been bullied, people taking my things or taking the mick out of my stuff and I just feel I have to protect everything I have.

Is anyone else like this?

I think it would be sensible to go to work and collect the items you left so that it doesn't mess with your head and ruin your annual leave period.

I empathise with this OP. The most recent example was just yesterday, when I lent a colleague my phone charging lead. He had a super important, personal call he needed to take about 5.30pm and had about 15% charge, so obviously I told him to take my lead, take his call in a meeting room and as I was going to leave before he was finished, just let me have it back in the morning. He’s fabulous, I knew I’d get it back, but it was the first thing I asked him for this morning.

Its rubbed off on DC too, I’m not sure it’s a bad thing? They don’t lose things at school, rarely break stuff. But if they did leave something important at school - an expensive bit of sports equipment for example (not a water bottle), we’d go back to school to get it, rather than leave ir to the next day.

Can you message a colleague and ask them to stick it in their locker for a couple of weeks?

Yes I can’t bear to leave anything anywhere - I’d have to go to work and go and get them. Conversely I hate other people’s random bits being in my house when they’ve inadvertently left them. I can’t wait to give them back. I like what’s mine and don’t want to share. I’d rather buy someone their own (exactly the same) thing rather than share mine!

Yes I’m like this. I’d have to go and get them, or ask a friend to look after them

I understand OP. Can you ask a trusted colleague to take care of them for you? If not I'd go back to work to put them away so you can relax over your days off x

I hate people touching my stuff, sometimes I don’t even like DP touching things. At work, ALL my stuff has my name on!

Yes, me too. Though I'm happy to lend or share. I am very careful with my stuff so hate people being 'rough' & I get irrationally upset if I think something will just be thrown away (such as your lunch box).

As long as I know something is 'safe' I'm ok with it.
