I'm knitting my second scarf with 2+2 rib (ends are slip stitches) & I have a problem.

I went wrong somewhere along the line, so frogged a few lines. Well, about 15 Blush Must not knit in low light!

Now I'm stuck on how to re-start. The 2 lines are:

Row 1. Slip 1 knitwise, K1. P2 K2. Repeat from to last 3 stitches. P2, K1.

Row 2. Slip 1 purlwise, P1. K2 P2. Repeat from to last 3 stitches. K2, P1.

But looking carefully it looks like there is only a solitary stitch (the slip one?) before launching into the *2 + 2. So what's happened here?

Am I being thick?

Full disclosure: I'm sick & my brain's not working Grin

From your description, you've slipped the stitch as the pattern says, but then forgotten to do the 'K1' or 'P1' before starting your rib pattern.

You can either undo it and start again, or start the pattern from the point you're at and style it out.

Do you use the graph trick? You can either graph out the pattern and tick each box after each stitch - this is useful if you're only starting out - or graph each row which makes it easy to replicate, and also to know how many rows of your knitting makes up a cm of pattern.

in case the graph doesn't make sense.
for your pattern you would do squares which would read:
s1. k1. K K P P K K P P
s1 P 1 P P K K P P K K
continuing for however many stitches.

then when you're ready instead of stitches you just put a 1 for every row.

You've done 3 stitches instead of two in between the rows - looks like you've done s1 k1 p p p k
instead of s k p p k k and vice versa

I've found it @MedievalNun!!! You've given me inspiration to keep looking & 2 more frogging's later, I've found the bit where I obviously started missing out that odd stitch after the slip Blush

It was rows ago, not far from the start! Oops. Got a bit of catching up to do now! Grin

Thank you for the charting idea too. That makes good sense!

Btw, that 3rd 'purl' is actually a stitch, just not enough tension & makes it look purl like. That makes me panic every 2nd row Confused

Thank you so much for your help! Happy Wednesday Flowers
