Can’t buy own brand shreddies anymore…

I’ve tried Tesco, Sainsburys and Lidl for the past 6 months and nowhere does them anymore.

Have Nestle trademarked them somehow?

Waitrose sell These

demotedreally · 22/02/2023 14:04

I've noticed this. Even worse, I really like the branded ones as they are crunchier...
I might find it hard to go back!

boobybum · 22/02/2023 14:04

I have only been able to find own brand ones in Aldi.

Same here tesco have been really hit and miss for about a year now. Dc who eat them have luckily been happy for me to buy Bran flakes instead.

mrswhiplington · 22/02/2023 15:04

I've only found any in Aldi recently.

Parky04 · 22/02/2023 15:06

Bought some in Aldi yesterday.

kegofcoffee · 22/02/2023 15:13

I'm sure Sainsbury’s still do them, but they are called Malties

Crucible · 22/02/2023 15:16

Went to a big Sainsbury's yesterday and finally got Malties (own brand shreddies) after looking for ages. They're back.

TightFistedWozerk · 22/02/2023 15:17

I found some in Morrison's the other week, but it is hit and miss there. Idk why Tesco are always out of stock with their own brand shreddies. (malted wheats or something like that)

MaoamAddict · 22/02/2023 15:17

I've found lots of branded cereal dupes missing off shelves including shreddies, cheerios & multigrain shapes. Aldi seem to be the only ones consistently stocking them, I bet the higher end supermarkets make too much profit off the branded ones to bother with an own brand version

Blanketwars · 22/02/2023 15:18

I have noticed this!! Lidl and Morrisons not doing them. I’ll have to go to sainsburys tomorrow!!

ditalini · 22/02/2023 15:19

We got Malties (Tesco own brand Shreddies) a few weeks ago, but own brand cereals were in very short supply this week and have been hit or miss for a while.

I wonder whether the profit margin isn't there at the moment somehow so they've scaled back?

ifonly4 · 22/02/2023 15:23

We all genuinely like them in this house. Stock has been very hit and miss in Tescos since covid, so I've learnt to buy a couple at a time as and when I can. I suspect they're even more popular due to cost of living at the moment as a reasonably healthy breakfast cereal (wholegrain higher in figure, not sugar coated) at a lower cost than a lot of cereals.

Smallinthesmoke · 22/02/2023 15:23

Sainsburys only have them about a quarter of the time, in my experience. Very annoying indeed, I share your pain OP. Waitrose and M&S have seemingly stopped having them entirely.
We don't even like the branded Shreddies, they are too sweet.

Mrsjayy · 22/02/2023 15:24

ASDA do Malties or something like that.

GoodChat · 22/02/2023 15:26

Morrisons do Malted Wheaton's. 99p a box.

GoodChat · 22/02/2023 15:26

*wheaties

HappyAsASandboy · 22/02/2023 17:00

Aldi had them this morning!

ginghamstarfish · 22/02/2023 17:13

Bought last week at Sainsbury's, seen in Aldi too.

claireb7rg · 22/02/2023 20:54

I've bought them in tesco, asda and sainsburys in the last few weeks without issues. Last purchased on Saturday

EwwSprouts · 22/02/2023 21:11

My M&S had some this week. I noticed because they had gone totally own brand with cereals where there used to be a few brands too.

SuperfastJellyfish · 22/02/2023 21:16

Yeah Tesco haven't had them in stock for months. As others have said, I got some in Aldi yesterday. They had tonnes of them.

TheFairyCaravan · 22/02/2023 21:18

I bought some in Aldi this afternoon

thepatronsaintofbubblewrap · 22/02/2023 21:20
