Too long for me

Rednotebook · 22/02/2023 11:25

God no

JorisBonson · 22/02/2023 11:25

If it smells fine, do it. Just make sure you nuke it.

mothertrucking · 22/02/2023 11:25

Not a chance, three days is my limit.

Arthurflecksfacepaint · 22/02/2023 11:47

Three days for me too.

Although, my italian MIL cooks bolognaise or other chicken sauces and leaves them on the hob for 6/7 days. Reheating everyday for lunch and just leaving it on the hob in between, they never see a fridge, even in the height of summer 🤢

None of them have ever been ill apparently and I’ve been treated like shit on their shoes since I refused them feeding 6 day old hob sauce to 6 month old dd.

Mrsfenchurch · 22/02/2023 11:49

I would definitely eat it if it’s been in the fridge and was cooked fresh originally

TangledWebOfDeception · 22/02/2023 11:50

It's absolutely fine as long as it was cooked/cooled/stored correctly. I do it all the time. Heat to piping hot.

cocksstrideintheevening · 22/02/2023 11:55

3 days would be my limit, my mum would it eat it two weeks old

inloveandmarried · 22/02/2023 11:56

If it was cooled and refrigerated within two hours of making then yes, eat up to and on day five.

Make sure it's proper bubbling, for a long duration of ten minutes. That's not a ten minute heat time, that's a get it to simmer and bubble away for ten mins.

I don't eat stuff after day six but day five is safe.

Rookriver · 22/02/2023 11:59

I'd eat it if it smells ok and is properly heated up!

MaltbyMaeve · 22/02/2023 12:00

Yep totally fine. 5 days is my limit but DH regularly does a week

CatOnTheChair · 22/02/2023 12:03

If cooled fairly quickly, and in the fridge, today would be about my limit.
If not stored properly, bin it.

Dallimore · 22/02/2023 12:05

Definitely would eat it as long as it's reheated to piping hot

Frenchfancy · 22/02/2023 12:11

I would. As long as it smells ok and is fully re-heated.

peachescariad · 22/02/2023 12:12

Ex food safety EHO here - general guidance to food businesses was 'day of production plus 2'. I still kind of apply this at home although DH thinks 3-4 days is fine in his eyes 😆
Just to let you know, pathogenic (disease causing) bacteria don't make food taste or smell off, so you can't tell if it's contaminated - it's the food spoilage bacteria, which cause the 'off' taste and smell. Although they cause that taste/smell, they won't cause food poisoning.

Turquoisa80 · 22/02/2023 12:16

I wouldn't eat it, 2days max. Although meal preppers do these types of meal for a week or so😳It's really better to freeze leftovers

LegoGoldenDragon · 22/02/2023 14:03

I absolutely would. I eat cooked food like that up to a week after, so Friday cooking would be fine in my mind until Thursday. I always put food straight in the fridge after cooling and reheat once only.
