I'm new to Derby and trying to plan a special birthday dinner for two. Where are your favourite restaurants? Nottingham seems have the stars but i dont want to venture too far. A wonderful Indian, Italian - anything! Where do you love to eat?

We have friends just North of Derby, when we go to visit we always go to Darleys. Absolutely love it and it's a really nice setting old historic building with views over the river and the weir.

The Cock Inn in Muggington towards Ashbourne is amazing.

The only place I've eaten in derby (I think it was derby-way) was in a 1950's American trailer, can't remember the name of it. We ventured over from West Midlands for the novelty and experience of it more than anything. It was good food and service , though it was many years ago we went there!

Oh sack that. I just quickly googled it and it's permanently closed now. It was called the 50's American Diner

Ah literally closed down on Feb 1st this year ☹️ shame. It was just how you see them in the movies too
