What is this pain behind breastbone?

I keep getting a sharp stinging pain behind my left breast bone, it feels as though it's deep inside but it also radiates into my middle upper back (the area between my shoulder blades!)

Upper middle back area feels tight all the time as well.

Really weird!

Back pain is a symptom of a heart attack in women. Is it a new pain? Could be a trapped nerve. I get Sharpe stabbing pains when I inhale but if I take a deep breath and streach my arms above my head the trapped nerve pain goes

Costochrondritis- have a look at the symptoms and see if they fit.

Could be a mild/small pneumothorax (air trapped between the lung and ribs)? Had a friend who had one and it went on hurting for weeks as it healed itself after a couple of weeks. She described a stabbing kind of pain and also shortness of breath.

This - definitely have a look. I suffer from it on and off. It can be really painful.
