Removing metal adhesive sign from glass, help!

Hello,
Could anyone tell me the best way to remove an adhesive metal sign from a window please? My DM had just moved into a bungalow and on the front door glass the previous resident had stuck one of those 'no cold caller' signs up and she wants to remove it. I've lifted a corner of it and gently pulled to try and get it off but it's stuck fast and I don't want to damage the pane by pulling too hard. Theres quite a bit of sticky residue on the glass underneath it, God knows what strength glue was on it, super strength it seems!!!
Now I've lifted a corner of it it's a sharp edge sticking up so I'm worried about her catching herself on it as she tries to lock/unlock the door.
Any ideas please?
Many thanks

Heat it gently with a hairdryer

That's a good thought, thanks. It's an old fashioned door with the thin glass and I was terrified of pulling it and somehow breaking the glass as she can't afford to replace the door as yet. Will try the hairdryer

Hand sanitizer is great for removing alsorts of sticky things . Run a bit along the top if the sign and where you have pryed it off a bit already.

It may take a few applications but it it should eork.

WD40 - it removes any sticky residue. If you can lift a tiny corner and spray, it’ll come away. you will need to repeat but it won’t harm.

I have to remove labels for recycling jars for crafts and some of them are so ridiculously stuck - I’ve tried many methods - heat, soaking, ‘sticky stuff remover’, baby oil, etc. WD40 is the only fail safe.

If it's stuck with foam adhesive pads, use a piece of cotton thread to 'saw' through the foam in the gap between the sign and glass. Then use WD40 to dissolve the adhesive residue left behind.

Yes to WD40 for removing sticky residue off any labels. Not sure if it will work to lift the metal sign off but I'd give it a try.

As previously mentioned, heat with hairdryer then use thread (or fishing line) to saw through between the sign and the glass. If the adhesive residue is very bad, Autoglym Tar Remover is pretty good.
