Best two days for nursery?

DS will be 2.5 years and currently attends nursery three days a week. I’ll be going on maternity leave in a few months and planning on sending him for two days.

Which days would you choose? Are two consecutive days best or a break between them?

Tuesday thursday

Evenly spaced out and avoid bank holidays

We went for Monday and Wednesday. Monday is good as it gives me chance to get through the weekend admin and washing and pile of shite! And Wednesday as she finds nursery quite tiring so she can have an easy day on Tuesday. Also it's handy that she's not in on Thursdays and Fridays as we occasionally book a cheap last minute weekend mini break and it's cheaper to go Wednesday/Thursday but that's just us!

But also good point about bank holidays! We don't pay for bank holidays and my DP is off on bank holidays but worth considering.

I think we did Wednesday and Thursday nursery. From 2.5 we also did morning preschool on the other days.

When are the baby groups you'd like to do? That's why I chose Wednesday. There was a bumps and babies group that I loved on a Wednesday afternoon. I couldn't take DS so sent him to nursery that day so I could take DD.

We do Tuesdays and Thursdays for 2YO DS. You want to avoid Mondays due to bank holidays and I prefer non consecutive because if they’re unwell on Tuesday there’s a better chance they’ll be better on Thursday than on the Wednesday. I’ve heard settling can be harder when there’s a gap but we found it fine actually and anyway it won’t apply to you if your DS is already at the nursery. Fridays I also wanted avoid because of elder DD having an early finish from school and so we can do long weekends away.

That’s a really good point about baby groups - will start exploring. That’s one of the main reasons I want DS to be in nursery for a bit because I can take the baby to toddler groups but can’t really take DS to baby classes - he’s a bit rambunctious these days Grin

I think avoiding Wednesdays is a good idea, they are always the busiest days in childcare settings. I did Thursdays and Fridays because that's when I had been at work. But Tuesday, Thursday could work too.

We do Mondays and Thursdays, we like the spacing and neither of us get bank holidays off (except I get one at Easter, when we’ll be going on holiday, and Christmas when the nursery is closed all week anyway) and the nursery is open for bank holidays.

I'd do Tuesday and Fridays. Not too long a gap inbetween and avoid the bank holidays. Do you need it to be full days or could they do every/4 mornings?

My daughter goes in on Thursdays and Fridays and it works for us.
