Do you delete SM pictures when you break up with someone?

Just wondering really.

Prompted by someone I went to school with posting something about tinder on instagram, me thinking “I’m sure they had a serious partner”, visiting their page and noticing all the pictures of them and their house were gone.

Seen other people do it too. Relationship ends and there go all the photos.

Do you?

Yes . I don’t want to be reminded of someone I’m no longer with .

CosyScentedCandles · 20/02/2023 22:03

@Fidgety31 do you do it immediately or is there a waiting period?

No. But I’ve never had a bad break up and so have never felt as though I needed to erase my exes from my life. They were a part of my past and I’m happy to have them there. I guess it must be different if things end badly and you regret the relationship or don’t want any photos reminding you.

Yes I removed my wedding 'album' and coupley pics off Facebook after ex and I split. I didn't want to keep getting them popping up on the memories thing. I left any of him with the kids or us all though. The originals are all stored on a hard drive so I know they're not gone forever. Nobody else would know unless they'd gone through all my social pics deliberately looking which I doubt any of my friends and family have done!

@CosyScentedCandles I would say quite quickly yes . But then they were not pleasant endings so I didn’t want any reminders .

I didn't delete pics of my childrens father as they might like to see them. I did delete those of my last husband but it left huge chunks of missing stuff in my photo files so I sort of regret it. At the time I was angry but now it wouldn't bother me to still have them there.

I don't post pictures on sm, but I would remove any ex's pictures if I did.

Yes. I suppose it's about also giving yourself space for new people to come in.

You don't have to remove everything. Some may be good to remind you of things you don't want in your life again, or you can just move them to a spot you don't see every day and see how you do.
