How to make mum friends?

I’m just looking advice really as I’m socially awkward and have been most of my life.

I have had a few friends in my life but not many and none now. I think because I’m so anxious/awkward people can sense it and it puts people off talking to me

I just don’t want it to affect my daughter, she is 9 months and hasn’t been around other babies much, I don’t want her ending up as socially anxious as I am, I want her to be round other babies more .I’ve been to a few groups but people already know each other and don’t seem interested in taking to me. I’m not familiar with kids other than my own so unfortunately can be awkward when other kids come up to us in groups.

I’ve always found it difficult to make friends in the city I live in too (in the south west) as not too much going on.

Please can you give me some tips in best ways to meet other mums/ what you look for in a mum friend what I can do to try and get over this. I would appreciate any advice

Don’t use it myself personally but peanut app?

Could you perhaps arrive early to one of the baby groups and say to the group leader that you'd like to volunteer to do a job that session. Like pouring the squash or cutting up the apple or something. Appreciate this is tricky with a 9 month old. But having something to do where other mums have to come up to do to request something is a really good ice breaker.

@Emma961064 have you tried Peanut or Mush? Also have a look at baby groups on Facebook. Making friends as an adult is a bit of a challenge but the nice thing about being a new mum is that you’ll already have common ground and plenty to talk about.
