What to make for dinner this week?

Is anyone else sick of deciding what to make for diner every single night?!

To give you an idea of what we like, DP and I usually have the likes of chilli, chicken curry, spag bol, fajitas, enchiladas, stir fry, burgers etc on rotation.

I’d appreciate some ideas please. We are both meat eaters, ideally would like suggestions of quick and easy things to make (20-30 mins) that we can easily rustle up when we are home from work

Jacket Potatoes?
Some kind of pasta dish? I make a veggie sauce with onion mushrooms peppers and courgette, chilli flakes and a couple of tins of tomatoes. Once it’s cooked through I add in the pasta and some chopped up hotdogs.
Lasagne
Burgers but chicken breast instead of beef
chicken kebabs

What kind of curry do you usually do? There are so many options you could try something new, if you tend to stick with a particular type say a jalfrezi could you try something like a madras, or korma. Mix up the type of meat, or make a veg based curry instead, chickpea and cauliflower works really well. Maybe try a Thai curry, biryanis or Dahl.

I'm a big fan of a tray bake, really anything goes, we have a sausage, parsnip, apple and potato or on the menu this week.
I always cook at least one more often two fish dishes a week, fish always has the bonus of being fairly quick. This week we have balsamic tuna steaks with cous cous and roasted veg and linguini with king prawns, chilli and garlic, again really quick to make.
Also on the menu are stuffed mushrooms stuffed with cheesy leeks with green beans and broccoli and a root vegetable casserole.

This is one of my faves and really quick. I'm vegan but you can just swap out the mince.

Have a look at Recipe Tin Eats. Lots of great, tasty dishes that mostly don't take too long to cook and don't need lots of weird or expensive ingredients.

I started getting Gousto when we got stuck in a rut. I just keep the recipe cards to make again in future rather than buy the same meals over. Tomorrow we're having peanut butter udon noodles which are again really quick, but tasty.

Something (fish/steak /chicken) with mash (frozen is really quick and easy) and green veg with a sauce is an easy one.

This week, sausages and mash, probably fried onions and veg; lamb steaks with some sort of veg; chickpea and spinach curry, probably with pitta bread; leek and potato soup, maybe with bread and cheese; salmon and spinach pasta.

I just found a nice recipe for a sausage gnocchi dish on the Tesco website that I've added to our meal plan for this week.

Tonight - home made minestrone soup followed by baked Camembert with French bread.
Monday - chicken egg fried rice
Tuesday - minced lamb kebab with Naan and a lemony apricot and chickpea side
Wednesday - filled pasta with home made tomato sauce
Thursday - Chicken tagine with cous cous.
Friday - mushroom risotto
Saturday - 🤷‍♂️ possibly fish!

Karwomannghia · 19/02/2023 15:26

Pancakes on Tuesday this week of course!!

closingscore · 19/02/2023 15:34

Tray bakes - Chuck a load of chopped veg and marinated chicken thighs (choose your theme!) bung it in oven and bob's your uncle.

Greek ones with lemon, oregano, garlic and topped with crumbled feta and toasted pine nuts are my favourite. Loads of ideas online.

AmongstTheCosmos · 19/02/2023 15:37

Tonight we're having roast lamb followed by rhubarb crumble.

The rest of the week is:
Lamb tagine with the leftovers
Pancakes
Grilled salmon with stir fried vegetables and rice
Sausage traybake (with potatoes, carrots, swede and leeks this week)
Pizza

PieonaBarm · 19/02/2023 15:37

I make an arrabatia sauce in bulk and use ASDA fat free bacon pieces and freeze it in portions and then take it out in the morning along with two chicken breasts and oven cook them in it. Takes about half an hour. Can serve with rice or pasta or sometimes I cut up baby potato's and roast them in the same time in a tablespoon of oil.

This week I won't be home before 6:30 any night so it's quick wins for us,

M - chicken Kyiv (from the butchers) with salad and new potato's
T - tuna pasta bake and then pancakes (DH plays football on Tuesday so this tea needs to be carby otherwise he's starving the next day)
W - sausage and mash with peas (mash bought from Tesco, sausages from butcher)
T - Jacket potatoes (DH will put in oven as he finishes before me)
F - maybe the chicken listed above

My menu is so boring. I've pretty much lost interest in food. I make a curry and have it with salad over two day.

Steak and salad
Chicken and roasted veg
Fish and salad

So boring and repetitive. I detest cooking.
