Covid again

Imamumgetmeoutofhere · 19/02/2023 12:31

I've got bloody covid again for the second time. Before anyone asks why I'm testing, I test as I work in the NHS in a patient facing role and they ask us to check if we have any symptoms.

Anyway, I had it last year and it was like a mild cold, nothing more. This time though it's awful, cough, cold, sore throat, blocked ears, temp of 39.6, nausea, chills and sweating. I honestly can't remember when I last felt this unwell.

Does anyone have any tips on riding this out? The usual fluids, rest and paracetamol I'm doing but is there anything else I'm missing?

Thanks

Sympathies OP. I’ve had it 3 times and I know someone who just had it confirmed for the fourth time. It’s just the usual advice I think.

Gooseysgirl · 19/02/2023 12:41

I've been lucky and escaped it completely until this week and now I have it for the first time... Jesus it's awful ☹️ I've got sore throat, dry acidy cough, sneezing, aches all over, runny nose... I would say it's one step down from proper full-on flu. I'm taking paracetamol mostly, ibuprofen when my temp goes up, lots of fluids... I suppose we just have to ride it out!! 💐

PS what's wrong with testing? I'm in a client facing role, some of whom would be vulnerable - I wouldn't want to put them at risk! I don't test regularly anymore, but if I have symptoms I do 🤷🏻‍♀️

Only because a lot of people seem to dismiss testing saying it's a waste of time testing now as we don't need masks etc but they forget that there are some of us who have to

Hope your feeling better soon. You might have both cold/flu and COVID, your symptoms sound exactly like my current cold but im negative.

DoubleShotEspresso · 19/02/2023 13:15

Sympathies OP. It's truly horrid.

I'm currently feeling horrendous but not yet tested positive. The severity of coughing/exhaustion is way worse this time for some reason and this is showing no signs of letting up yet...

Gooseysgirl · 19/02/2023 13:22

@Imamumgetmeoutofhere true! I do occasional NHS work as part of my job - I suspect we are of similar mindset on this xx

Mammyloveswine · 19/02/2023 17:00

Ive just had it, was so poorly!! I also had horrific stomach cramps with sickness and diarrhoea too!

I tested as im a teacher and my immediate colleagues are vulnerable so I think it would've been selfish of me not to test! (Not that I could've gone in anyway given how ill I was!).

Eviebeans · 19/02/2023 17:08

Just had covid for the fourth time- started off with diarrhoea this time. Luckily Only really really unwell for one day.
I’m finding it takes longer to recover with each time tho.

Imamumgetmeoutofhere · 20/02/2023 09:44

Well it's even worse today. My lungs hurt just breathing in. And my resting heart rate has shot up. And I only feel ok if I'm laying down, the rest of the time I feel faint. Think it's time to contact the GP for some advice.

I'm fully jabbed too, plus the flu jab so can only begin to imagine how rough I'd feel if I hadn't had them

Exactly the same! My very first time and feel like utter shit at the moment. I wonder if a recent mutation has meant those of us who had good resistance to the first few strains have finally been defeated 😭

Teacher here - had covid for the fourth time and tested positive last Sunday, just in time to spend the entirety of half term in bed will all of the aforementioned symptoms. I’m still coughing, wheezing (asthma) and shaky - you have my sympathies. This dose has been awful.

Oh FFS... I'm a former teacher, just typical isn't it!!

Tabitha888 · 20/02/2023 12:29

Oh op I hope you get better asap. Sounds really rough x

Jayd291 · 25/02/2023 14:32

I’ve currently got covid, day 1 was horrid, then felt better, now and day 5 and feel worse then ever. Earache runs chesty and sore throught, feel like I’ve been hit by a bus!!

Newwardrobe · 25/02/2023 15:18

My dd has been ill since the beginning of January, flu symptoms but now she's been vomiting as well, she tested yesterday (vulnerable dad) and had a faint positive.

Gooseysgirl · 25/02/2023 15:26

After ten days I'm finally starting to feel a bit better. This current strain is not fun at all!!

Jayd291 · 25/02/2023 18:20

I just wish I could get better! Seen to be getting worse! Anyone else feeling like this?

henchhen · 25/02/2023 18:23

I tested positive on Monday and felt awful till Wednesday - much much worse than the previous time I've had it, and I'm all jabbed up. My kids tested positive yesterday and today, and have slept for about 22 out of 24 hours.
