Linkedin: What happened when you turned "Open to Work" on?

I already get contacted regularly by recruiters in linkedin. If I turn "Open to Work" on does it open a floodgate of spam, or not? I am looking for a new job, but can't help thinking that anyone who recruiting for a role that matched my profile would contact me with or without this setting turned on. Did it work well for you?

I got a load of spam. Jobs that were nowhere, the level I am was at. A couple that were ok positions but non that could match what I was on.

I uploaded my CV to indeed, CV library etc. I had a recruiter contact me from there with a job that exceeded my requirements.
