I’m talking too much

Just that really. I’ve noticed myself quite a lot when I’m with friends or family pretty much talking non-stop, giving other people hardly any time to have a conversation.
I’m not talking rubbish, it’s usually topical but I catch myself sometimes and know I’m doing it, then 2 minutes later I’m doing it again.
I’m aware it’s not a very good trait, I never used to be like this and I think it’s actually going worse.
Any help or ideas appreciated.

Following as I’m the same. I’m only quiet when I’m 100% comfortable and that’s only with my husband and kids. It must be exhausting for others, I feel really bad. :/

It’s good that you’ve recognised that. I’ve a friend who does it - well, more of an acquaintance really, and it’s frustrating when the conversation is one way only. Are you any good at listening? If so maybe you could insert more questions into the conversation and then remember to listen while the speaker is answering?

I do this, but it's a feature of my Autism (diagnosed) I spoke about it at my assessment as I'm literally unable to stop myself even though I'm aware that I might come across as annoying arse. I've always been labelled a chatter box by family / liking the sound of my own voice (by a couple of unkind people) and one friend always used to say "why use 10 words when you can use 100?"

The worst is, when I meet up with a friend and talk non-stop for half and hour, then have to say something like, well that’s enough about me, what about you and they say about two words and I’m off again.
I also dread someone phoning for a chat, as I talk over them, it’s really awkward and I have to keep apologising.
