Fell over at work

Just before breaking for Christmas, I tripped over a step at work and put my hand out onto a windowsill to save hitting my head on the window.

It really hurt but there were quite a few people around and I felt really stupid. It swelled up a bit and I put a compression bandage on it there was some minor bruising. I assumed it was a wrist sprain.

There is a constant dull ache, I've still not got full mobility and recently have been having some tingling/numbness. I wouldn't trust it eg to do a press up or lift a heavy saucepan. Sometimes when I outstretch my thumb, something in my wrist clicks.

Clearly it's neither a recent accident or an emergency but I am now wondering if there was a hairline fracture. Would the GP be able to do anything or do I need to accept that I've left it too long and live with it?

Did you log it with work in the accident book?

SgtBilko · 18/02/2023 21:03

I’d ask your gp for an x-ray.

@CandyLeBonBon
No, foolishly I didn't.

Is there a minor injuries near you?

EnglishRain · 18/02/2023 21:15

Go to the GP and they can refer you for an x ray.

You could have dislocated a bone in your hand or wrist quite easily. Physio might be able to help improve things too. In my area you can self refer for physio, but they'd probably want an x ray before helping in case.

Thanks, I'll contact the GP. There's no minor injuries in my area.
