Triggernometry

What do people think about it? Some of their interviews have been really interesting. Have never seen either of their stand up, but judging by the raw podcast, they definitely made a wise pivot into podcasting.

I like it
I don't watch it often but they have some interesting guests

I like that they let people speak - it's so sad that that seems like a novelty, it should be a norm.

Raw really helped me in lockdown, though I can't say what really made me laugh on here. I just did a bunch of chores while listening to it. I'm going to miss having it on catch up - I often use it to help get boring chores done!

WillowPatternPlate · 18/02/2023 21:06

I generally enjoy it. I just listen to the podcast interviews, not their raw videos.

its usually thought provoking, even if I find myself disagreeing with the guests’ opinions.

I highly recommend the most recent podcast interview, with Rosie Kay, who was cancelled by her own theatre company (utter madness). I’m glad triggernometry exists so these stories can be shared.

Calistan · 18/02/2023 21:12

I haven't listened to that one yet. I do get a bit transed out tbh, there are only so many times you can be outraged and angry, I take a break from all that periodically

There was one recently where I thought they were a bit credulous and didn't challenge the guest enough, can't recall who it was though Blush.

I also really like Joe rogan now and again, not the comedian or fighting stuff and Joe is delightfully dense sometimes, jokes frequently fly right over his bonce. Some guests are great though.

I just thought school maths at your title! No idea

I was hoping for sin, cos and tan.

@Calistan

I like a bit of Joe too, although as you say, it’s highly dependent on the guest.

I think that’s often the case with ‘new media’ podcasting and the like where the hosts haven’t had formal training in journalism. Long-form “just let the guest speak” type interviews can be amazing, and offer so much more than a tightly choreographed Q&A session, but they can also result in 3 hours of rambling.

EmmaEmerald · 18/02/2023 21:54

Really recommend the interviews with Richard Grannon - watch the first one first, so to speak - Africa Brookes, Silkie Carlo.

if you like history, Giles Udy was an excellent one too.

Greensleevevssnotnose · 18/02/2023 21:55

Clearly an insider thing. Unless you care to explain of what you speak?

Ditto. Was wondering why it was spelled incorrectly!

full disclosure - I love Silkie!

Lillygolightly · 18/02/2023 22:08

Enjoy some of their content, depends on the guest really. Don’t watch their raw stuff and have never seen any of their comedy.

Also like a Joe Rogan podcast too but again it depends on the guest, but there are many many interesting guests to choose from.

The Dark Horse podcast by Brett Weinstein and his wife Heather Haying can be very interesting too, though I prefer their Q&A podcasts. As evolutionary biologists they have some interesting views on things.

You Tube based on my previous views loves to push Lex Friedman onto me and though he absolutely has some great and interesting guests his casts just seem send me to sleep.

EmmaEmerald · 18/02/2023 22:09

Also recommend KK's book but I think it's sold out atm

mum - an immigrant - enjoyed it too.

WoeBeCome · 18/02/2023 22:20

I like it. Don’t agree with everything they say or all of their guests. Specifically their dislike of any kind of family that isn’t nuclear. They’re not so keen on single mums but don’t seem to address the issue of domestic abuse and the reasons why mums might want to be single. Or even just the fact that women don’t want to put up with lazy, uninterested men.

However, some stuff has changed my mind on things and I like listening to different views and challenging myself to consider other viewpoints.

EmmaEmerald · 18/02/2023 22:43

Woe I feel like I've heard them say quite a lot on the subject of men and...shall we say, declining standards? Certainly never heard them object to non-nuclear families but I'm not an avid listener.

WoeBeCome · 19/02/2023 09:07

emma yes I’ve heard them say that too. But I’ve also heard them say stuff about single parent families which I don’t agree with. Have you listened to a recent one about the truth about incels? Super interesting with a few bits in there that I didn’t agree with about how it’s a shame for society that women are being more picky about the men they date.

There was also one about how feminism lied to women. Can’t remember the speaker, she was a posh black woman who described herself as a ‘princess’. Not a real princess, just in the terms of high maintenance. She was really annoying, I had to turn it off.

However, on the whole I don’t turn it off even if I don’t agree with what they’re saying. And actually I do agree with a lot of the speakers and appreciate that they let the speakers talk and challenge them in a debating style way, rather than in a confrontational ’i’m going to catch you out’ way

EmmaEmerald · 19/02/2023 10:29

Thanks Woe
I wouldn’t bother with the incel one but be interested if you know the name of the other lady?

at a guess, I think about 80% of their stuff, the subject matter isn’t for me.

WoeBeCome · 19/02/2023 12:08

It’s called ‘women have been scammed’ and the guest is Esther krakue.

EmmaEmerald · 19/02/2023 12:21

Thanks, I will watch that

WoeBeCome · 19/02/2023 12:40

Hope you enjoy it!
