The movie I watched the first night I was on my own was Wild starring Reece Witherspoon. I don't do romance/romcoms so can't help you there.

Yankydoodledandy · 18/02/2023 17:52

What's Wild about?

AllAboutMargot · 18/02/2023 17:53

Wow, isn't it strange that there have been three different Reece Witherspoon recommendations five posts in!

Far from the Madding Crowd (2015)
Brooklyn (2015)
Enough Said (2013)

For another RW suggestion she has a new one on Netflix with Ashton Kutcher and Jackson from Grey's. Can't remember the name but was an easy enjoyable watch featuring 40-something leads which is nice.

MrsElm · 18/02/2023 17:59

Letters to Juliet. It's lovely!

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 18/02/2023 17:59

Dumpling Lovely sweet film.

AllAboutMargot · 18/02/2023 18:00

Wild is based on a true story by Cheryl Strayed. She hit rock bottom in her life - drugs/sex with randoms - and decided to change where she was heading.

It's uplifting and made me laugh and cry.

If you’re looking for fairly recent ones I thought The Lost City with Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum was really enjoyable in a Romancing the Stone / Indiana Jones style.

I liked You People and The Hating Game too.

Older ones which I think are always worth a rewatch: When Harry met Sally, Pride and Prejudice, He’s Just Not That Into You, Legally Blonde and Miss Congeniality.

Enjoy!

GrossToe · 18/02/2023 18:04

The Cutting Edge. Best rom com ever.

How to lose a guy in 10 days

Pumpkin314 · 18/02/2023 18:09

I rewatched 13 going on 30 recently, having only seen it forever ago when it first came out (presumably by renting it from blockbusters!) Enjoyed it a lot.

WinterFoxes · 18/02/2023 18:11

Best Rom Com feelgood film is Legally Blonde (also RW!)

BigPussyEnergy · 18/02/2023 18:13

Not a film but a series I’ve enjoyed recently is Girls 5 Eva on Netflix. It’s v funny, about a former 1990s girl band who reunite in their 30/40s. I get the songs stuck in my head every time I watch it!

Bridesmaids is on Netflix which I rewatched last night

Me too! My go to film when I want a laugh

ScarlettSahara · 18/02/2023 18:25

The Notebook, Me Before You-both romances with sadness
About Time- time travel romance with humour
Last Christmas- romance with sadness and humour
Bridesmaids (as mentioned above) I've enjoyed but seen quite a few times now
One Day with Anne Hathaway - another romance with sadness and humour
Those are all off the top of my head and I can watch them more than once if I fancy a wallow!

Rauha · 18/02/2023 18:26

Dumplin' is so sweet, it's on Netflix.

MachineBee · 18/02/2023 18:27

The Wedding Date

ZenNudist · 18/02/2023 18:29

Not a film but the whole of lily in paris is like a silly fluffy comfort blanket with a couple of hot male leads.

Notonthestairs · 18/02/2023 18:30

The Proposal - although I'll admit I mainly watch it for the setting/house in Alaska and Betty White.
