Breast milk question!

Hi everyone.

I am 9 months pregnant with second child and have been hand expressing colostrum since week 37 as advised by midwife due to a difficult latch last time round and emergency c section.

My boobs are now full of milk (haven’t had baby yet) and are really hard.. almost like the milk has come in before the baby has arrived?! Little worried that it could all dry up if I don’t start getting it out? Or is that impossible? Sorry this may sound like a silly question but I am leaking galore and there is so much milk in there, it’s worrying me.

thanks!

Milk 'comes in' is triggered by the change in hormones after the placenta is delivered. I would call one of the breastfeeding helplines for a chat. It sounds like you had a tough time with your first baby and it might feel reassuring to talk about the whole experience and what you plan to do this time. So that you get to relax and enjoy your new baby.

Not impossible. I was leaking loads by the end of pregnancy. Milk has stayed though I have an insane let down and over supply atm. Baby is 4 weeks and is my 4th.
