Did I cause this? (tw: pregnancy loss)

Hi, I have been feeling so much guilt and anxiety over this.

When DD was 8 months I found out I was pregnant again. I wasn't necessarily happy and drank 1/2 3-shot espressos per day (so that's 141mg of caffeine for one, or 282mg if I had two which wasn't every day).

I was shocked when I took another pregnancy test and it was negative, and I lost the baby around 5.5 weeks.

I worry that I caused it to happen by drinking coffee and feel a lot of guilt.

No, you didn’t.

babies are incredibly well protected in the womb and drinking coffee would never have caused a pregnancy loss.

sadly many pregnancies spontaneously end in miscarriage, mine included. I felt bereft, guilty and over analysed everything, it was part of my grieving process. Deep down I knew this, and made my peace with it.

No, you didn't. I think you were so early on that you unfortunately had a chemical pregnancy. Alot of people still don't know they're pregnant at that point and are drinking coffee, taking alcohol, lots of things. It really was just one of those things.

Absolutely not in my non medical opinion.
Stop beating yourself up about it.
5.5 weeks is really really early and to most women would think it be a late period.
