Wwyd - work crush

My work crush is leaving for a new job very soon 😭 I want to get her number before she goes so we can stay in touch but I don't know if she would be interested in me or if it would be unprofessional(although she is leaving)? We are not close at work so if I asked her it would be really obvious that I like her romantically... I really don't know what to do, just leave it or follow my heart even if there's a chance I'll get rejected or is doesn't lead to anything special? Wwyd?? I feel like there is a spark between us but totally appreciate that I could be imagining it lol

P.s. have already tried to find her on social media for a more casual approach but she doesn't have it

You will never know until you put yourself out there! Go chat to her, talk about where she’s moving on to and then ask if she would fancy keeping in touch or meet up for a drink? If she says yes then great! If she says no then you’ve put yourself out there, followed your heart and know where you stand.

Hmm I'd just get talking her and then slide into the convo asking for her number. If you go upto her randomly and ask for her number it might be awkward.
Try and sit by her at lunch or something and ask how she is..ask what's her new job etc etc and then say..hope u don't mind but wanted to ask you for your number before you leave. No cheesy wierd lines or anything. Just be a bit friendly first before you ask. Women like confidence so go for it. Hope it works out

Thank you for the lovely advice! Just for context, we have spoken a couple of times before which is where I've picked the chemistry up from so have already had the convo about the new job etc but we do not directly work together in the same team so not regular daily contact where it would be totally normal to swap numbers. No cheesy lines don't worry 😂 I am also female and this would be my first time pursuing another female although I have always been curious, but I'm pretty sure she dates woman although again, I really could be wrong which makes this even more trickier to navigate, what if she thinks I'm not serious about dating women aaaarghhh I really don't know what to do but my face gets hot anytime we speak and I catch myself gazing at her all the time and I haven't felt this way in a veryyyy long time

@Sheisperfect Sorry I shouldn't of assumed you were a guy, especially since I'm gay myself 😂
In that case just ask her for a drink, as you don't see eachother often. Just say wondered if you fancied catching up over a drink, keep is casual 😉

Cassie9032 · 17/02/2023 21:14

Keep it* sorry

Sheisperfect · 17/02/2023 21:28

Haha no worries 😂 You make it sound so easy! This is so nerve wracking but I'm gonna try it, hopefully she says yes!

Just fake it till you make it 🤣 I get nervous sometimes as well but just keep a bit of cheeky eye contact when you ask and she'll say yes. Especially if you feel there's chemistry. Hope it goes well.

Sheisperfect · 17/02/2023 21:57

'cheeky eye contact' 😂 I feel so cringe just thinking about me asking but you're right, I think I do feel mutual chemistry so should just go for it, I have a back up plan if I chicken out face to face. In my quest to find her social media, I have found her non work email, but think that might be slightly stalker-ish although it is publicly available, I really do need to get a grip seriously 😭😭 thank you!

Ahhh, this sounds really sweet. No harm in having a conversation about it with her. You only get one life! Are you usually right when reading people/ their chemistry? If it backfires I guess she's leaving anyway so no harm done. Good luck!

Cassie9032 · 17/02/2023 22:05

@Sheisperfect I wouldn't email.
If you make it casual in person, like don't label it a date, it will come across better. It will build up anticipation and keep her guessing which is way sexier than an email lol.

Sheisperfect · 17/02/2023 22:51

@Cassie9032 Okay will totally bin off the email idea and just woman up and ask face to face lol

@Veryverycalmnow I am usually right yes but then again I've never really had to make the first move and I'm just paranoid that I could be reading it wrong. Haha that's the only saving grace, kind of a blessing in disguise though because if she wasn't leaving, I would never ask her just in case it backfired and I still had to work with her. Thank you!
