Parking outside and travelling into London advice

Ulezz · 17/02/2023 20:09

We are due to visit London for a show soon and want to drive but then park on the outskirts (outside of ulez) and get the tube/train the rest of the way in.
We are coming in from the west, don’t mind paying a car park fee (but not an Ncp if the prices in my area are anything to go by!)

Which theatre?

BIWI · 17/02/2023 20:11

And when you say 'coming in from the West' - where, specifically? As that could dictate which station/area you need to be looking for parking in.

Drive in to Ealing Broadway (lots of parking) then Elizabeth Line in.

Samsonsmum · 17/02/2023 20:16

Big car park next door to Richmond station. District Line

Thank you for the speedy replies!
We will be going to the Cambridge theatre and coming from Bristol

Reading and Elizabeth line, if you're coming down the M4.

Ulezz · 17/02/2023 20:40

Is Ealing Broadway outside of the ulez zone?

Look at one of the parking websites such as Just Park. We parked in the middle of Greenwich in the summer for about 8 hours on someone's drive. It's so comforting knowing that you have booked and paid for a parking space.

Put the postcode of where you want to park into the website and it comes up with various options at different prices.

There are other parking websites too.

LlynTegid · 17/02/2023 20:48

It's outside the zone until August. Zone starts at the North circular.

Hope you enjoy the show.

alexdgr8 · 17/02/2023 20:51

the north and south circular, A406 is the boundary.
you can drive along it, but not into the interior.
at end of august the ulez will extend to all the london boroughs.
check on map; some parts of ealing either side. acton is inside.
have you checked your car reg.

Ulezz · 17/02/2023 22:01

Yes car reg is definitely one that needs to pay.
thanks for the info re Ealing and boundaries.
id forgotten about just park! That’s a good shout.
Thank you so much everyone

There’s a large car park at Hounslow West tube station or park at Westfield and pick up the tube.

Honeymoone · 17/02/2023 22:07

Hounslow West is where we usually park. Free on the weekends and very easy to get to

Honeymoone · 17/02/2023 22:08

Or book a stay at The Barn at Ruislip, tube station directly behind the hotel

crackofdoom · 17/02/2023 22:10

Parking is pretty reasonable at Amersham- unsurprisingly, as it's the furthest out tube station to the west. I think it was £5/ day at the council car park next to the tube station, but that was a couple of years ago so may have gone up.

gogohmm · 17/02/2023 22:16

I've parked near Hatton Cross and taken the train in. Was a while back but I found free on street parking

aibutohavethisusername · 17/02/2023 22:19

Westfield

hgaj · 17/02/2023 22:26

Westfield is inside the ULEZ.
It might be worth looking Hayes and Harlington if crossrail is running (though I don't know how busy the car park gets)
