Does this sound like the flu?

Around a day ago I started to feel so tired despite having 12 or more hours sleep. Was falling asleep where I stood. When I would sleep I’d wake up drenching wet covered in sweat and horrible nightmares. My legs keep wobbling when I stand and I feel achy, even lifting my glass of water hurts and brushing my hair is agony.

My partner says that I feel scolding and despite having taken ibuprofen and paracetmol together I can’t seem to get my temp below 38.5. I’ve actually never had a temp before, even when I’ve had severe infections so this is new for me. My back is currently wet with sweat.

The only thing that is making me slightly nervous is I have to keep taking little breaths as it feels like I can’t breathe deeply (no chest pain though) and when I do fall asleep, I keep waking myself up choking, which again is new the past day or so?

does this sound like flu? I’m a little worried but don’t want to bother with 111 if it’s just a sit and rest situation. We also got back from abroad two days ago so I imagine I picked it up there

It's worth considering Covid, have you got any LFTs at home? A high temperature for 24 hours is a little worrying, and so is the breathlessness. I assume you're taking aspirin or similar, drinking plenty of water and resting.

It sounds like you're not in need of hospitalisation, but want to know how much to worry? In that case, do call 111 or ring your GP in the morning if you can wait.
Hope you get a better sleep tonight 💐

I think it’s best to get medical advice for anything that alters or impacts your breathing. Sounds like flu but could be Covid or a chest infection.
Try breathing in steam, lots of it. Do you have any Vick’s vapour rub or similar? If you have rub that on your chest and upper back. Keep drinking, little and often.
It won’t hurt to call 111 for advice.

I’ve been in bed for ten days with similar. Negative for covid but I’m assuming it was flu. Sickest I’ve been for years.
