Hi MN,

MIL read an article in the telegraph last week about a "jazz ballet" show she'd like to go and see. The problem is she can't remember any more details. Can anyone identify it please?

Thank you!

Elite Syncopations is a ballet based on Scott Joplin's music, which is ragtime - it has very colourful costumes, is that what she might have seen?

In Leeds with various dates in March, other tour dates tbc.

Is it 'Dance Me' based on Leonard Cohen's music, at Sadler's Wells? Reviewed in Telegraph last week.

Yes, if it was that, she's missed it. It was Ballets Jazz de Montreal and although their name contains the word 'jazz' I don't think the performance itself was upbeat - Leonard Cohen's music and lyrics being what they are.

If your MIL would like something modern-ish, then the Northern Ballet one would be good.

The Great Gatsby is performing in Leeds , Sheffield and London. Looks wonderful as does Elite Syncopations.

Thank you. I'll ask her if it's any of those!

Birmingham Royal Ballet are going to do a ballet later in the year around the music of Black Sabbath. Probably not what your mum was looking for, but intriguing all the same.
