How do you print a poster in Word, when you only have an A4 printer?

I'm trying to work out how to print a single page document scaled up across several sheets of A4, so that I can tape them together to make a large poster.

The instructions I find online do not appear to fit my version of Word. I have tried to bumble my way through the print settings, and can find poster, tiling and scaling settings, but can't seem to make them work together. The print preview does not show what the printout will look like tiled or poster, so I can't tell whether it will enlarge to fill the poster.

Can anyone help?

What format is your poster in? A word doc?

I'm struggling to imagine.... How big do you want the end poster to be?

I've got the poster as two documents, one A4 and one A3, so I can print from either.

I've scribbled a couple of layouts. I prefer the top option, to print it enlarged over 8 sheets of A4.
