im pretty sure my 12 day old has a lip tie. Have attached a pic.

she is bottle fed. Struggles to latch properly lots of clicking, hiccups, wind, constantly grunting and straining.

Is there anything that can be done about this? Or do bottle fed babies not get treated?

Anyone with a bottle fed baby with lip tie have any tips? Bottles that were easier to latch with etc?

Hi Itsmeitscathyivecomehome
I've an 8 week old baby and she has the same issues as your girl.
Did you get the tie treated? Or did you find anything that helped with her feeding ??

One of my DCs had this problem, back before doctors were diagnosing tongue tie or other ties as the reason for every feeding issue. My DC had no intervention and feeding went well after the usual initial hiccups.

my son was born with a lip tie- really thick one like a piece of twine! He really struggled with breast feeding as he couldn't get a good latch- even had a lactation advisor out from La Leche but to no avail so had to go onto bottles of EBM. My GP didn't want to do anything about it and it became more pronounced. He ended up with a massive gap in his top front teeth as the tie went right down and through the hole!
When he started going to the dentist they advised massaging it to try and stretch it which eventually worked

As I understand it the UK doesn’t routinely do anything about lip ties. Other countries are more proactive and treat them before they become an issue.
