Anyone want to help identify this (possibly) Victorian item?

I'm trying to date this antique letter rack. It has glass ink bottles set in wells, the tops are missing

Not sure on the wood. The underneath has a floral black pattern on it which could aid in dating

Any help appreciated

A desk tidy. Space for ink bottles and papers/envelopes/bills etc

I used to have a similar one (also had the patterned paper on the bottom) it belonged to my great grandparents so I thought mine was circa 1880s - 1910s

It looks as though it was made during the Arts and Crafts movement which is from around the mid 19th century when a hark back to a more natural design with nature inspired floral patterns became important.

That floral pattern on the underside makes me wonder whether it was originally part of something else and the wood was re-purposed to make this object.

Looks like ink wells, so maybe a stationery holder

Cottagecheeseisnotcheese · 16/02/2023 12:44

the glass is two inkwells normally for two coloured inks the dip is for your pens quills and stationery in the racks, the inkwell are missing lids these were often silver or silver plated and often there were ceramic inserts too

It’ a Standish, looks similar to this Victorian one here:

Yes it's definitely a Standish! And sadly it is missing it's tops for the ink bottles.

I am going to date it at around 1890 I think based on research and your responses
