Pregnancy symptoms or just the pill?

Hi all,

I just wondered if anyone else has had an approx 2 week break off the pill and then restarted it? If so, did you have side effects?

Been on Yasmin for 15 months and usually take it continuously. 8th Jan I decided to have a break, so I had a 4 day break (this is apparently now recommended over 7 days), during this time I had 4/5 breakthrough bleeding, just like a light period.

Restarted my pill on 12th Jan but only for 2 days. Basically I put in my repeat script but told I needed a review first. My blood pressure was high, so they refused my pill and said i.had to monitor my blood pressure for a week and decide then if I can recommence my pill.

So from 14th Jan- 30th Jan (16 days) I had no contraception at all. Around 16th Jan I had another bleed but more like a period (assuming not a true period), quite heavy lasted 7 days.
I restarted my pill on 30th Jan and have been taking every day.

However...around 3rd -5th Feb I had ovulation type pains. I assumed it was just my body reacting due to being on and off.the pill so much in.a short time.
However, prior to the pill I would always get quite intense ovulation pains...is there a chance I ovulated?

For the last 3 days I've been feeling really sick and tired and also really bloated/have pulling sharp pains in my pelvic area.

I'm wondering if there is a chance I could be pregnant because I completely forgot I should be using extra precautions during the first days of taking the pill. We did have sex when I was off the pill but used withdrawal method.
As I'm on the pill and will not have periods, when would I test???

But... When I first started this pill, I had a lot of the side effects and they mimicked pregnancy symptoms the same as now.
So...could I just have side effects from restarting the pill after being off it for 10 days?

Also, I'm now 36 and my partner quite a bit older. Surely I'd be very unlucky to be pregnant!

I’d probably do a test just to be sure…. I’m 38 and was on the pill but wasn’t feeling great on it - stopped to have a break and wait for period to return before going back to doctors to try something else for but only had a very light bleed for a day or so which I thought was just body adjusting to no pill kept waiting…. In kicks the heartburn and sore boobs and positive test! Luckily I was quite happy just a bit of a surprise and fingers crossed due august/sept

good luck whichever way your hoping it goes

@Sparklesandsunshine1 wow! Congratulations, pleased to hear you're happy about it, it can be a shock when you're trying to prevent it!
I definitely don't want another. My partner is abusive and it's escalated recently, so I wouldn't have another child with him.
I definitely have pregnancy symptoms but also had these symptoms when I started the pill. I may give it another week and if things done settle, I'll test.

@Iminlovewithmyhotwaterbottle fingers crossed for you then - hopefully just the pill affecting your body that’s the reason I stopped mine was feeling awful on it so can do all sorts 🙏🏼
