Recently given up hard won job to help deal with family issues. I have side hustle, decorating etc to do, but fining it soooo hard to do anything except look at the huge mess in the kitchen, put it off and waste another day.
or get confused about what I am doing and exhausted.
also getting ridiculously nervous about going anywhere new. Like driving to nearby city.
help!

Following for advice

this will sound strange but although I've been in treatment for A&D for years, I currently wake up feeling flat as a pancake...and it continues through the day! Even sunny weather isn't helping.

I'm no expert- except at understanding your point about looking at the huge mess in the kitchen! I started breaking it down into small tasks & giving myself a time frame eg: open all the unopened mail & put envelopes in the recycling bin. Do this for 15mins & then have a "posh" coffee (one made in the coffee maker from ground coffee beans). Keep a note of everything you have achieved. After a bit of success like this, the kitchen will be looking better & you will start to feel like you're an achiever, rather than a failure. At that stage you might feel up to starting a "to do" list - but start small, maybe just one thing/day. Good luck! Flowers

Oh brilliant cheapskate will try this. Great suggestions, ( esp about nice coffee!) Am trying to do one area a day and oooh, a tidy bathroom is good!
think it’s the eternal kitchen. Uggghhhhh.
sorry to hear emma we need to get syrup and cream on that there metaphorical pancake!
ok I WILL clean the kitchen! How did it get to be 10.47!

Ah, thank you @Moomoola - you've got this! Start with one corner of the bathroom if that's easier. I would say make that loaded pancake to enjoy with the coffee, but that would make more mess in the kitchen, so maybe not yet Wink

Moomoola · 15/02/2023 15:19

I cleaned the bathroom!

I cleaned the bathroom!

Good work! I need to do a housework task after dinner, I am moving but it's date tbc. So there's a list of stuff to do that's very long. I need to spend an hour being constructive this evening!

your comment about the pancake made me laugh. I am on the decluttering thread as well if you prefer to join us there? I'm not decluttering, strictly speaking, but it's helpful and supportive there.

Moomoola · 15/02/2023 21:20

emerald aww thank you! I will pop over tomorrow! Clutter is certainly an insane problem to have! Don’t hink my granny ever had a problem with it- she saved the one box from chocolates for letters, and the old cloths made rag rugs!

I looked up a and d, it’s Addison’s disease? Poor you that sounds tough going. I’ve had fatigue aftre chemo and it’s really difficult to get anything done, massive sympathies! You need magic cleaning fairies, not motivation!

ugh, this kitchen is messy again! Why do people eat? Why do I cook?!

🧁💐🥂

OP
no, sorry, anxiety and depression. I have seen a few people use that abbreviation here.

I fell asleep after dinner Blush So no constructive activity for me tonight, but tomorrow!

EmmaEmerald · 15/02/2023 21:29

I'm not sure my idea of doing an hour after work is going to work!

Moomoola · 16/02/2023 08:05

Morning emerald! Another day another dishrag 😀.
mind you if you are looking to move house, that IS overwhelming!

oh gosh I’ve got/ had a and d then, sympathies it’s utterly crap. Think the house has got so unloved and depressing because that’s what I’ve been! I think mine comes from a partner that I’ve just realised likes to be a bit controlling.
but that’s another thread!
am guessing if an hours too much cheapskate would say do 10 minutes. And if that’s too much, one minute.
right, on with the washing…nope, maybe in a minute…
Good luck!

Well done on doing the bathroom @Moomoola! You're totally right, @EmmaEmerald just do 10 minutes. Sorry to hear of both your health and mental health issues.

Moomoola · 17/02/2023 07:44

Ha! Thanks cheapskate just got to that age where everybody needs looking after, humpf.
thanks for your advice, I’m doing one area of the house a day, for an hour. very flylady or organised mum!And it does feel a bit better.
