Shamelessly posting for traffic as when I popped this in parenting I got no replies.
I have a 3 week old (well she is 3 weeks tomorrow) and she loves tummy time, is ticking off all the ‘tummy time milestones’ for 3 month olds and can easily stay on tummy for 15-20 mins at a time (instead of the one to two mins mentioned online for newborns) she holds her head up and can move head from side to side when up too.
But I’m now starting to worry there might be a line of ‘too much tummy time’ that we might be crossing.
Today for example she has had 1 hour and 20 mins tummy time, broken up into several 15-20min bursts. Reading online she shouldn’t even really be doing tummy time on the floor yet (can’t do it on my chest due to recovering from c-section) let alone be going for so long etc. but I’m not sure if this is a positive thing and she is ‘overachieving’ at tummy time or it’s a bad thing and she shouldn’t be on her tummy for so long this young.
anyone had this before with their newborn?
