Should I be wary of a furniture company with zero online reviews?

Looking for a new sofa, and found one I really like from a brand called SITS. The place that sells it generally does nice quality furniture.

But here's the thing: the SITS website claims that they sell thousands of pieces of furniture a year and that they've been in business for 29 years.

Yet I can't find a single online review! Not one.

Can anyone shed any light? Maybe they make furniture for other people and have only just started their own label?

I would feel reassured if I could just check that other people are happy before dropping ££ on a sofa.

I wouldn't use a company that didn't any have online reviews.

I'm correct in thinking it's weird, right? They claim to have produced so much furniture, yet zero - ZERO - reviews. And yet they're being sold at a lot of pretty high end stores.

It's definitely very weird.

Are you sure you're using the genuine website and not a fake one?

HowDoYouOwnDisorder · 15/02/2023 15:04

Sounds fake

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 15/02/2023 15:09

I wouldn’t use them. But I would be googling the heck out of them and seeing if the address/telephone etc was listed anywhere or used by anyone else. Because I am terminally nosey. 🤣

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 15/02/2023 15:19

Ok having satisfied my nosiness. Have you actually googled them?! There are loads of shops and well established business that sell sits furniture. Both on the high street and internet.
Maybe buy the item(s) you want through one of them? Advantage of high street stores is that you can try/see it to make sure it is right for you. Furniture is expensive.

Sounds extremely unlikely that a company trading for that long would have zero online reviews. I personally would not buy from them. I would try and find the same sofa elsewhere. If you do buy something online use a credit card to purchase it to give you some protection.

huuskymam · 15/02/2023 15:23

Yeah. I wouldn't go next to near a company with no reviews unless there was a walk in store I could check out first.

financialhelpneeded · 15/02/2023 17:48

The question isn't whether they are a real company - they absolutely are, I've sat in one of their sofas in a real shop (and I would buy it through that real shop, rather than online). I really like the sofa - it's super comfy, and would fit my space perfectly.

The question I have is why there are no online reviews for any of their products, despite the fact that they claim to have been in business for 29 years and to sell 4000 items of furniture a day. Where are the customers? Why isn't anyone registering delight or displeasure? Even tiny businesses have online reviews these days, right? Maybe I'm missing something, but I haven't been able to find any responses to their products online.

Probably because they sell through shops, so the reviews are places on the website(s) that the shops sell from. Perhaps they don’t host a review page on their own site, as online reviews are so easily manipulated as to be irrelevant most of the time, especially when one persons perception of ‘comfort, style and colours’ will be very different to another’s persons perception. - eg Dh loves a certain whereas I hate it, doesn’t make the cheese wrong, it’s all about individual preferences but doesn’t really make for helpful reviews if we both post opposing beliefs about the same item on a website.

DecorationInsolite · 12/12/2023 17:37

It is because SITS do not sell to the public, they sell to independent stores, so you should check the reviews for the store you could possibly buy from. Our store has being selling SITS sofas several years, so check out the reviews.

I bought my SITS sofa over the phone from an online shop at I love it. I have removable covers and they are washable (the seller will say that they are not, but if you read the label the are machine washable on delicate cycle). The best thing is that their catalog is so extensive! My sofa is A 2 1/2 sitter, a size I couldn’t find anywhere else. 10/10!
