Rural Wheels - do the drivers earn any money for their time?

Just that really.

I know it's always described as 'volunteer' work - but where does the money go?

My DM pays quite a lot per trip.

(she doesn't begrudge a penny of it btw, the drivers are patient and kind)

If it’s a community transport scheme I think there’s a booking fee and then a cost per mile. Locally it’s 45p per mile.
