Can anyone interpret my dreams?

Sorry for a boring thread, I know people hate hearing about other peoples dreams, but if anyone could help I’d appreciate it.

I have a recurring dream which is slightly different every time but the same theme. Basically I live in a home or move to a new home and by choice I decide to block off a room or a certain amount of rooms because the home is too big or I don’t need all of the rooms - I’m not completely sure.

Last couple of dreams were;

Moved into a one bedroom flat but the bedroom was huge so I used plasterboard I think and blocked up the door to the living room and painted it so it looked like a wall and lived in the bedroom as the main room.

I moved into a large house where you walked into a hallway with a living room off of it then into a dining room then a kitchen, the other side of the kitchen was another dining room and living room so I blocked up the door again like in the previous dream.

One I had a few weeks ago was the same as the second one above but in that case I didn’t know, or had forgotten, there was another set of rooms beyond the kitchen and ‘discovered’ them. Similarly I had a dream I visited my sister and I ‘discovered’ through a hidden door that there was another floor to her house that no one knew was there.

So basically slightly different every time but at least once a night I block up room, unblock rooms or discover rooms. It’s been going on for weeks - what does it mean?!

Is someone in your life restricting/allowing you access to something?

Are you establishing boundaries with someone in real life?

CantSell · 14/02/2023 12:42

I think houses and rooms are meant to represent your mind, in which case it would be telling you there are hidden parts of your mind - maybe repressed memories?

No, nothing like that, but thank you!

Hmm maybe! I suppose if I have repressed memories I wouldn’t know though so I’d have to have therapy to ‘retrieve’ them? Or just put up with the dreams! They’re so vivid though, I’m really tired when I wake up from them and the other night I had a few of them and they woke me up every time.

Perhaps it alludes to a sense of fear about expanding horizons. Are you someone that wants more from work/life etc but lacks the confidence so self sabotages or doesn't take opportunities when they come.

Otherwise maybe a similar thing but with vulnerability or personal relationships and struggles letting people in or trusting them (even if you feel you do)

ZeppelinTits · 14/02/2023 13:09

I've been having dreams like this too. I'd love to know what they mean! I keep thinking it means in the future we'll live less separately and will favour communal living situations in which we need less personal space.
Otherwise, no clue. Always very tired when I wake from them too.

LostMyUserName · 14/02/2023 13:21

How long have you been having these dreams for? I wonder if a specific event triggered them.

TeamadIshbel · 14/02/2023 13:27

Right, this is just a guess!! 8 have v vivid dreams too.
I'm wondering are you at a crossroads in your life, contemplating a new direction or new addition of some sort..... If you are your subconscious could be playing out a fear you have about not being ready and not having, 'enough space' in your life for the new thing.... Are you holding back on something out of fear or could it be you are grieving in some way and feel emotionally safer in a small, cosy space. Is there a desire to return to the comfort of simpler times?

No, none of that is relevant to me but thank you 😊

I’m glad I’m not the only one!

About two or three weeks, nothing significant has happened around that time though.

No, I’m not at a crossroads, I’m really happy and no big decisions need to be made. I’m not grieving anything either.

Sometimes in my dreams I’m happy closing off the rooms and sometimes I’m happy when I discover the new rooms so I’m happy in the dreams either making the space smaller or bigger.

Thank you everyone for trying to help, I really appreciate it!

I think different rooms are meant to represent choices - so blocking a room, you have chosen not to pursue that choice - or if you keep going back to it that you regret having made that choice.

WinterFoxes · 14/02/2023 13:53

Your house is yourself, so blocking up rooms is you closing down potential opportunities or sides to yourself or your life. No one is doing it to you,. It is your own conscious choice. How you feel in the dream is quite important. Maybe you want to simplify life. Or maybe there is a side to your life you no longer want to have to devote time to or think is necessary.

LostMyUserName · 14/02/2023 13:55

It does sound as though you have free will in your dreams. That you are choosing whether to open up or block off spaces.

What do you think the relevance of you visiting your sister might be?

Robin233 · 14/02/2023 13:57

This is very interesting
Me and my dh had this in reverse.
We found an extra bedroom..,,

In some of the dreams I find rooms. What do you think you and your dhs dreams meant?

Yeah, in my dreams I’m happy whether I’m blocking up rooms or unblocking them or finding them. I’ve no idea about my sister, we are very close and I talk to her and see her all the time, I was happy I found her some extra space in her house in the dream and so was she.

Fuzzonyourshoulder · 14/02/2023 14:24

@WinterFoxes @Snoopystick yeah, it could be either of those I’m not sure what choices I could’ve made that I regret because it’s nothing conscious so maybe I need some therapy to figure that out!

OP posts:
Snoopystick · 14/02/2023 14:35

Finding rooms - new choice. Dreams are meant to be your brain sorting through stuff - so the choices may be current or in the past. Although they are sometimes more literal - I kept having a dream about a duck pond in our attic leaking when our bathroom was leaking and being fixed!

Hope551 · 14/02/2023 14:58

I would take it as things seem overwhelming at the moment, so in your dreams your trying to shrink your world/space to make something/life more manageable.

Perhaps the discovering of more rooms means life keeps shoving more at you and as much as you try to keep on top more events/stuff keeps appearing making it hard to predict and keep on top off xx

I think with us we were living in a 3 bed looking to buy a 4 bed - which we did.
So maybe it was sign we were on the right track.
