Best ad blocker that’s free

I used to have an ad blocker on my mobile and it was very effective. A software update wiped it and I haven’t been able to get it back. Please could you recommend a good free ad blocker which I can also use with my Mac?

Adblock Plus on Firefox.

My phone won’t support it apparently. Really annoying.
