That Hindenburg was an actual person and not just a giant balloon airship that crashed.

My ten year old knew this but I didn't. I had no idea at all.

So was Zeppelin...

In the UK we tend to have very little interest in the history of non English speaking countries. Despite that including all of our nearest neighbours. Hindenburg had a quite a pivotal role in C20 history.

Biro was a person, too. Lazlo Biro. He sold his brilliant parent cheap for money to help him flee the nazis.

You're right. I'm embarrassed by my lack of knowledge. I assumed Zeppelin was the person who invented the Zeppelin but maybe not...

I did know Bismarck the ship was also a person so I'm not a complete ignoramus.

The Messiah premiered in Dublin

Today I learned that elephants have breasts, not udders, and it's quite unnerving.

Today I learnt that one of my colleagues is a lying swine and will push anyone under the bus but I am guessing that is not the answer you were looking for 🙄

The term commutative. My 7 year old knew the meaning but I hadn't heard the word before. I am an accountant and actually quite good at maths (honestly!)

ShirleyPhallus · 13/02/2023 22:28

I’m just here for the “channel tunnel doesn’t go through the sea” and “pineapples are grown on the ground” facts 😁

That a scow is a type of dinghy. I thought the puzzle was wrong🤦‍♀️

Your seven-year-old knew the term commutative??? I am very impressed.

If you rinse all the sauce off baked beans (under the tap, in a sieve) - they are white. Not orange.

parrotonthesofa · 13/02/2023 22:44

That the word barren is spelt like that.

This made me laugh. I’m a Year 3 teacher and teach this word but only learned it during my training.

I found out that a drink after a meal is a digestif so that is what gaviscon/peptac is.
