Can any nurses/doctors/medical people help with my leg?

Background: I fell and hurt my leg (quad muscle) eight days ago. I had an mri because the nurse thought I might have a bone bruise or fracture.

The results said I didn't, just an oedema (still not entirely sure what that is)

My leg was getting better and less painful. Yesterday I tried to massage it because that's what they told me to do. But today it feels more sore (although no change to bruising). When I press it I can feel it's different to the other leg and feels puffy although it doesn't look it.

Question: what is an oedema and can it get worse? Could I have done some damage by trying to massage my leg?

Very boring I know but I'm desperately trying to get better as I am meant to be cycling across Europe in two weeks time!

Odema is a term for swelling. The easiest thing is to look on the nhs website

www.nhs.uk/conditions/oedema/

It’s swelling massaging will help break it up will probably be sore and achy after. Impressed you got an MRI!

Any injury etc would have shown up on s mri scan. Oedema is swelling to the tissues or your body retaining water.
