Ever had a really vivid strange dream

Peckhaminn · 12/02/2023 18:55

Just woke up from a nap and had 5 different dreams in one that I remember very vividly. One was me and OH bought a house and found out the old owners were living in the attic. Then another was based where I used to live with my mum and my neighbour had gone missing and there was drug lords that bought the house then there were huge riots and I went on the run for days with a few randomers and ended up at Ralph Fiennes house as one of the guys I ran with (it was his dad) then I started writing an autobiography whilst on the run and tried contacting my OH for days. Then me and OH were in a shack in the middle of a beach and I knew he was going to propose and was on the phone to his late Grandma before he did so. This is just a very very short version of it but I've never had a dream(s) so vivid and bizarre.

Anyone else can relate?

Definitely! - best part of my day :-)
I love to post them on facebook to bore I mean tell my friends.
Last one I posted was after unexpected 'long' drive to a hospital appt;
'The journey by car felt like a long and last-minute expedition.
Accordingly I woke at 3am having dreamt that we had to evacuate the planet by the next day as the atmosphere was evaporating.
We hadn’t packed the tea mugs, nor any spades or rakes out of the shed.
I mean, check the news, but I think this was just my brain processing the day’s events'.
It was my parents old house and there was only four of us there (random members of the family) and no one else around anywhere else, but the birds were singing: definite Day of The Triffids vibe as nature reclaimed things. I had been planning to follow on from the planet separately, but the atmosphere 24hrs factor meant I had to go with them. Yet we were washing up and putting the mugs neatly away and not packing them.... OBVIOUSLY you do not pioneer a new planet without TEA.

I dream a lot, usually very vivid and always very strange!

I often have dreams where I go back to somewhere I used to live and discover there is an extra room I never knew was there.

Needmorelego · 12/02/2023 19:12

I have vivid dreams all the time. I can even wake up but them carry on the same dream when I fall back asleep. Apparently this is quite rare.
I also have re-occuring dreams frequently - the same dream, dreams 'set' in the same place or a continuation of the 'plot'.
My latest ones seem to be about trying to get 'back' to Birmingham, getting lost in Birmingham, trying to find the correct bus stop or getting the correct train.
I say 'back' because I don't live or have lived in Birmingham.
I have visited Birmingham many times in my life but in the dream even though I 'know' it's Brum it doesn't actually look like it at all.
🤣

Needmorelego · 12/02/2023 19:13

@TonTonMacoute I get the extra room thing a lot too. There's probably deep deep meaning in that 🤔

Rainbowclimbinghigh · 12/02/2023 20:24

I love dreaming!

I also have incredibly vivid ones, some have the plot and feel of blockbuster action/sci fi films 🤣

Keep having variations of a dream recently about my (male) manager who I have a slight crush on 🫣 Needless to say, it tends to make it worse...

Also frequently have recurring anxiety dreams - they used to always be about not having done any work/not having been to any lessons for A-levels, but now they're mainly about trains - missing them, being on the wrong one, having to get off at a random stop in the middle of nowhere and being stranded etc. They're less fun!

I find it all very fascinating.

DragonflyLady · 12/02/2023 21:20

Yes, I frequently have very vivid and strange dreams. If I wake up, I often go back into the dream when I fall asleep. Love dreams!

Eastereggsboxedupready · 12/02/2023 21:29

I had a dream recently I had and was breastfeeding quads.
Omg I woke up in a sweat.
I am 51!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 12/02/2023 21:32

I work in a coffee shop and had a sexy dream about a regular customer. It’s very hard to look him in the eye and make conversation now.

ShowOfHands · 12/02/2023 21:32

Every night, all night long.

I don't talk about them usually. Is there anything more tedious?

MrsAvocet · 12/02/2023 21:32

The other night I dreamed that I was organising a bike race right in the middle of a very large city. I do organise cycling events so that bit at least makes sense, but not in the location of my dream, or on the same scale. Anyway, it was all going well with a huge crowd present when I suddenly had the terrible realisation that I had left all the prize money at home and there was no way I could possibly get there and back in time. All the banks were shut so I decided I'd just have to manage with whatever I could get out of a cashpoint. Only then I looked down and realised that I didn't have my card on me as I was in fact stark naked. In the middle of the massive crowd.
At that point I woke up, literally dripping in sweat and with a heart rate of about 180 bpm!
No idea what brought that on.

I have that kind of dream a lot, too.

Last night I dreamt I'd bought a house, and when I moved in there were many many more rooms in it than I'd seen when viewing it. And all sorts of cupboards and things with the previous owner's stuff in.

I wonder what that means 🤔🤣

StellaGibson2022 · 12/02/2023 21:49

Me but I never share unless particularly disturbing and can’t shake it off.

Last night I dreamt that a lion was running towards me but luckily there was another lion behind me and it mauled that instead - if anyone does dream analysis please let me know what this might mean!

Eastereggsboxedupready · 12/02/2023 21:55

Omg just thought on. Last week I dreamt I kissed one of my customers. When we got naked he asked me if he could put it in. .
I have to face him on Wednesday! Oh heck...

MadamLeota · 12/02/2023 23:29

I can set my clock by then since I’ve been on HRT. Second patch in seemingly. Extremely vivid and sometimes a bit, erm, interesting with unexpected persons as well.
Some make no sense whatsoever, like one the other night where I was trying to persuade a child that an underground sewer was no place to keep gerbils. Sometimes they are so completely odd that I find myself waking up chuckling 😳

PatsysBeehive · 13/02/2023 04:11

@StellaGibson2022 I get loads of dreams of running away from lions. I'll have to google. I always get a recurring dream where I'm lost in a car park and can't find my car or escape.

had a horrible one last night, someone accidentally knocked my 4yo into a pond and I grabbed him out then pushed this woman in and tried to fight her Confused

The being lost and not able to get out of a car park must be awful! As was 4 year old in the pond.

My dream last night was quite fun - was back in a houseshare getting ready for a night out.

MyCatHasStaff · 05/08/2023 23:47

I have very vivid dreams, I often know I'm dreaming. Odd, random stuff, but I'm often trying to climb stairs or hills that are impossible.

Omg!! I thought I was the only person who had this dream! I'm always in a rented house, the tenancy is about to run out but I've forgotten and need to quickly find a new house. I'm always doing a final tour of the current house and finding rooms I've never seen before, normally dusty and with nothing in them. Cobwebs etc.

My take on it is that our mortgage is so huge I'm scared we never really own our home. Fascinating to hear others have the same dream

letstrythis · 06/08/2023 00:20

@BatshitCrazyWoman apparently the house represents the self.
You're discovering hidden aspects of your self?
I have these dreams all the time. Sometimes I have to go through crawl spaces or across bridges/dangerous ladders to get to different rooms.
Sometimes the rooms are haunted.

It's really fascinating when you start to decode them

Chatillon · 06/08/2023 07:46

I have these a lot particularly in the lighter months. Normally around 2.30am to 5.00am. I had one just this morning.

I live on a hill and this dream took place outside my home by the high wall of an outbuilding. It was an amazing sunny morning and we had friends and family around. People were in the barn helping themselves to food and drink to take back outside. The atmosphere was light, friendly and a day of promise stretched out ahead.

I looked up and my son was standing by a table waiting his turn to get a plate of food. Two inches from his head was a small drone. Bizarrely it was in the shape of an old fashioned shoulder camera, but a drab olive green. Then I was outside and in the sky another drone, like a dragonfly was descending down except it was iridescent, multicoloured and partly opaque. It spun round me like a ball giving off streams of light like a twirling galaxy twists away from tail end stars. Followed by one that was bright orange and shaped like a flat iron. Many more came in different shapes, sizes and representation. Some guests had rifles and were shooting them. One of these drones hovered in front of me, it was silver with a square box like camera structure with the bottom half the limp body of a cat. I could feel a malevolence behind it so I pushed it towards the ground. It popped back up again, so I knocked it on its side and down so its rotors broke up on the stones and it was silent.

Then millions of smaller drones streamed down out of the sky. They were the size of ladybirds and different patterns and colours. Some were small household object with legs like paperclips, a child's toy car, a hazelnut. They poured down the outside walls and when they reached the ground they all spread out vibrating forwards and outwards. The noise got louder and louder until finally they all started to melt into the ground.

After I woke I went down to get a cup of tea. The dream was so vivid I could relive it in detail, focus on the minute detail of each of these millions of drone-like things that invaded our garden party.

I realised the closest representation was to Bjork's video of The Gate. I have not seen that in years, but looked it up a little while ago and there are so many similarities....

LBFseBrom · 17/08/2023 19:29

Yes, I can relate. I've always had vivid dreams about all sorts of things but there is one recurrence; I am on a journey and it takes forever to find my way even though I know where I am going, often not very far. Sometimes I ask for directions but am still held up. Then I wake before having arrived.

Lightningspeed · 17/08/2023 19:31

Always have the oddest most vivid dreams during a nap

Lightningspeed · 17/08/2023 19:37

I haven't had the one where I have killed someone and need to hide the body for awhile, thankfully.

Often have the house with extra rooms one, haven't had the back to school but realised I have already done the exams one for ages too.

Some are just utterly bizarre and some really lovely, I treasure the memories of those.
