Does anyone work away often?

Have been offered a role where I’d be away from home for two nights a week, working from home for rest. DH is supportive and can more than take full childcare of DC during this time (primary age) due to flexible working.

Does anyone do anything similar to this? Do you find it really hard or get used to pretty quickly?

I’ve done it a lot over the years but not since 2020 (thanks covid!). I’ll be completely honest that I found it exhausting and I don’t even have kids to come home to……although if your DH keeps on top of things like laundry and food shopping etc while you’re away then it might be less challenging. The longest stint it did was travelling on a Monday evening after work (used to arrive and go to bed) and travelling home on a Thursday evening. So really I only had Friday, Saturday and Sunday at home, then had to be packed Sunday night as I left straight after work on monday. I felt like all I did was get home, empty suitcase into the washing machine, try and do a food shop that wasn’t going to result in loads of wastage (I ate a lot of pizza and bags of pre prepared stir fry veg!) and then pack bag and go again. In reality it takes over a lot more of your life than just the 2 nights you’re away from home. And I gained a load of weight from eating out, not being able to make lunches, hotel breakfasts and not having access to a gym!
that said, I’ve been missing getting out of the office and I’m just about to start a project which will require travel and I’m quite excited about it!
