iPhone screen has gone black

I’ve just tried turning it on thinking it had gone off. It then sounded out a siren type alarm and next thing I hear a voice and realised the phone has called the emergency services!

It is obviously on as I can hear message notifications bleeping and it’s just rung but I have no way of answering it because of the black screen.

I have just looked online and it says to press the volume up, then down and then the on button but nothing works. I have charged it but don’t know what else to do.

Its a pre loved iPhone X which I got from Very just 3 months ago. I will contact them tomorrow but it’s so bloody annoying, I really don’t want to have to send it away for repair but tbh it’s been slow and glitchy since I got it. It’s my first iPhone and I thought it was one of those things.

Does anyone know how I can get the screen up and running?

Is your brightness turned down to zero?

Press the power and volume up bottoms together and keep them pressed for something like a minute.

Also, on another phone, call the emergency services call handler on 999, say clearly that there was a mis-dial and there is no emergency, and give them your number so they are not trying to trace your call.

It might have frozen this happened to my iPhone. Try charging it up then follow these instructions
If your screen is black or has frozen
1. Press and quickly release the volume up button.
2. Press and quickly release the volume down button.
3. Press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.
4. If your phone won't turn on, follow these steps to check your hardware and charge your phone.
