Teddy bedding and the “ick”

So in the attempt of staying warm in a draughty old house we swapped to teddy bedding and it’s taken me 3 months to work out why my sex drive took a nose dive off a cliff. Put on a normal set and suddenly wham - sex was appealing again….

It must be a temperature or texture thing? Has anybody else noticed the same?

Maybe wet soggy teddy bear fluff 🤮

Or maybe sleep and cosying up just too tempting instead 😅

😍love it. I didn’t know there was such a thing.

it looks so snuggly and warm

Chasingsquirrels · 12/02/2023 10:42

Missing the point of the thread....is it as snuggly and warm as it looks, and other than the sex are there any other downsides?

(DP only here at the weekend, I could have weekend bedding and week bedding - except I'd be too lazy to change it and would keep to the snuggly stuff 🤣).

Didicat · 12/02/2023 10:47

Oh no I love the snuggly stuff! Super cosy and sleep really well. That’s the issue, but I do love my husband more.

maybe two weeks on two week off…..

What we have done is bought a teddy bear duvet cover and use it as a bedspread over the normal duvet and cover its lovely and warm without adding too much weight to the bedding

TwigsAndPebblyShit · 12/02/2023 10:52

Is it not really hot and sweaty?

It is lovely. It's a giant hug!

I usually like good quality, white sheets. I had seen the teddy bedding & my initial thoughts weren't positive! However, my Tesco delivery was under the £40 free delivery amount & they had a special on the sets, so I got one on the basis I.could always try it once & if I didn't like it, wash it & donate it to the charity shop, they do bedding.

I like my room cool, so rarely have the radiator on in there & so sometimes the thought of getting into very cold sheets 🥶. The teddy linen welcomes you and is pleasant to get into.

it is warm & I usually have the teddy sheet on the bottom (over a normal sheet), duvet in a normal cover & put the teddy duvet over the top as a throw instead of using it as a duvet cover.

I thought it would be a nightmare to get dried as well, but it's not, it dries on an airer, more quickly than ordinary sheets!!

@Didicat I don't think it changes the desire or frequency, but I'd say it's more cosy/lazy with teddy bedding on! Possibly because I'm not trying to extract all his body heat!!

Didicat · 12/02/2023 10:57

@Isseywith3witchycats Maybe where I went wrong was with a teddy bedsheet as well as duvet covers? Maybe I should try normal bedsheets, add in a top sheet and then teddy duvet on top?

I had seen the teddy bedding & my initial thoughts weren't positive!

I have to say I thought that when I saw some last year. But this winter when DP hasn't been here I've been wrapping myself in a fleecy blanket when it was really cold as the bed was so cold to get into (when he is here he gets my cold feet) and I keep seeing the Teddy fitted sheets...

Actually, reading & posting on this thread I've just had an excellent idea - Teddy fitted sheet over normal fitted sheet. Take it off at the weekend when DP is here, wash as necessary, and put it back on over the fitted sheet when he leave. No whole bed change faff, and the fitted bottom sheet won't need washing quite as often. Will add one to my Amazon basket.

Wilma55 · 12/02/2023 11:02

I find the bottom sheet goes flat where you lie on it and doesn't re fluff (?) after washing. Our king size duvet cover only just squashes in our machine on its own.
Love the snugglyness though.

Luredbyapomegranate · 12/02/2023 11:08

Blimey had never heard of that, anything synthetic in bed would make my skin and teeth itch.

I can’t imagine sleeping in flannel bedding with my partner, I think I would feel 6 years old.. so I can see why it’s a sex life destroyer.

We have the same! Teddy duvet cover, no top sheet, normal fitted sheet! It's a dream!

DinosApple · 12/02/2023 11:31

We have normal fitted sheet on the bed and teddy duvet cover. It helped see us through 6 weeks of no boiler or heating and they dry quickly too, but can be tumbled.

The kids beds have the duvets too, DD1 prefers a cotton sheet on the bed, DD2 prefers a teddy one.

Our sex life has been curtailed more by our teen being up later than us than by our bedding...

This.

As a post menopausal woman I can feel the hot flushes coming on just thinking about it.
