Blocking Roblox

Senmum2013 · 11/02/2023 22:10

I thought I’d managed to activate downtime on the iPad so it turns off at a certain time to help minimise dramas at bedtime. However, it doesn’t seem to apply to flipping Roblox. It was fine the other day but today I found DS at bloody 5am on it. Then this evening it didn’t go off at the pre set time. Any suggestions/advice hugely welcome.

Does Family Link work on an iPad?
That's how I control timings on DC tablets.

Soubriquet · 11/02/2023 22:12

Take the tech away at night?

That’s what I do. All tech is in my room for bedtime

AntoinetteSatterwhite · 11/02/2023 22:18

Check out Qustodio. I'm not sure if it works on iPads, but we use it to block Roblox on PCs and it's excellent value for money (in that it actually works!)

FenghuangHoyan · 11/02/2023 22:53

Use OpenDns. You can block internet access which I assume it needs.

Senmum2013 · 11/02/2023 22:56

@Soubriquet it’s the taking away which is challenging. That’s why the iPad ‘switching off’ makes it easier! It worked a few times but just stopped so annoying?
thanks for all suggestions, will have a look.

Have you tried powering down and on again.
Check the date and time.
I've had issues after updates before
turn screen time off them on again.
change the password in case he's cracked it.

Margarita45 · 11/02/2023 23:22

Are you using the screen time menu to set the time limits? If so they can select ignore limit and chose extra time or to ignore it completely.

My six year old worked it out on day 1 🙈

BookwormButNoTime · 11/02/2023 23:47

Erm, you physically take the devices off them and put them somewhere they can’t access them.

You are the parent and can control access. Why rely on the device or settings to do your job?

ReallyShouldBeDoingSomethingElse · 12/02/2023 00:21

Depends a bit on age but most of my friends have a firm rule that devices are only to be used with the parent in the vicinity to be checking in on what they're doing.

Child on iPad at 5am rings alarm bells.

Senmum2013 · 12/02/2023 10:23

@BookwormButNoTime I’m fully aware I’m the parent. I’m the parent of a child with ASD with a PDA profile. The whole point of using the downtime was because on the few days it worked it prevented melt downs. Now, if you’ve got sone helpful suggestions from personal experience of a child like mine feel free to offer them. My ‘job’ as a parent is much harder than if I had a perfect NT child. Feel free to come be me for the day.
so much judgement. I was asking for technical support.

Have you selected ‘block at downtime’? It’s another toggle to select. You should be able to kill everything.

Senmum2013 · 12/02/2023 11:28

@WeCome1 hi yes, it does seem to block most apps. But NOT Roblox? Have had a google and it seems that it’s not just me that has this problem. I’ve reset the password incase he’s figured that out but just no idea 🤷🏾‍♀️
