Mole removal

Has anyone had a mole, or more than one, removed from their face?
I have a few raised moles around my chin, near my nose and under my jaw that I’m very self conscious about, and I’ve made an appointment to have them looked at to hopefully get removed.
If you’ve had similar done, what should expect? Did it leave a scar? Are you happy with the results?
Thanks!

I had one removed from the side of my forehead, can’t believe I left it so long to do! I can’t even see where it was anymore. I have no scarring at all, they did a great job.

gluenotsoup · 11/02/2023 17:38

Thanks @SquashPenguin!
Was it a shave excision? I’ve been putting it off because I worry they’ll make a mess and I’ll end up with worse scars than the moles are.

UserNameSameGame · 11/02/2023 17:38

I was wondering similar. I have two that really bother me.

I have always assumed they would be difficult to remove it would scar, partly because I often see actresses with very similar ones, and just assume they would have removed theirs if possible.

I had one removed from the side of my nose. It was removed via plasmage.
I'm really happy and have no scar.

snygghygge · 11/02/2023 17:40

I've had a few surgically removed over the years. I went to a plastic surgeon (not in the U.K.) I was very careful to follow all the post-surgery guidelines, such as not getting my pulse up for a month, massaging the scar daily once healed, and staying out of the sun/using sun block for a year. Now the scarring is literally minimal. And it follows the lines that are naturally beginning to form (I'm 52). I wish I'd done it sooner!!!

gluenotsoup · 11/02/2023 17:42

Argh, name change fail on my part, never mind.
What is plasmage @Sugaspunsista ?
I see some celebrities with flat, beauty spit style moles who look great, but mine are unfortunately not that type.

Charlie2023 · 11/02/2023 17:42

I had one removed from the middle of my cheek, so very visible. It just looks like a freckle now (I'm a freckly person). Like SquashPenguin, I thought about it for years before taking action and can't believe I waited so long! It was sliced off in seconds, a small plaster to cover the wound, a small scab formed which fell off after a week and that was it. Go for it, you won't regret it!

Sugaspunsista · 11/02/2023 17:50

Plasma pen can also remove moles which are beneign and skin tags successfully. The plasma pen is held above the skin and does not touch it during the procedure. The pen generates plasma energy that penetrates the skin outer layer causing the mole and skin tag to come off.

It felt like a little laser. I had local anaesthetic. It scabbed over then wen scan had gone there was nothing .
I'm happy to show you a before pic of the mole if you like?

Sugaspunsista · 11/02/2023 17:51

*scab had gone ( not scan)

gluenotsoup · 11/02/2023 17:52

Would you? Not a great pic ☹️

Thank you, any photos would be appreciated 🙂

I had about 100 moles 😳no kidding, removed from my back by a consultant who used a liquid nitrogen pen. A bit like what you'd use for a verucca. She expertly 'coloured in' each mark delicately. It took a week or two for them to go black and fall off naturally but the result was zero scarring. I had one removed by my GP on my boob by cauterage and it scarred, not happy about that one.

Rnt95 · 11/02/2023 18:01

Hi, I had one removed from my cheek. The scar I have left is more noticeable than the original mole was imo. Will add pics.

Sorry just to add it was removed because of suspected melanoma. Not the case fortunately but I would otherwise have left it well alone.

Sugaspunsista · 11/02/2023 18:04

The mole was at side of nose

What does it look like now, @Sugaspunsista ?

Is it very expensive to have moles removed??

Sugaspunsista · 11/02/2023 18:08

I think it cost me £120.
Sorry for bad close up bit as you can see it's just as if it was never there

Also following with interest! I have big one under my chin. Very protruding and gets hairs growing in it! Wouldn't even bother if there was a scar, as it's under my chin!

gluenotsoup · 11/02/2023 18:11

Thanks everyone, so far.
Yours was in a similar place to mine then @Sugaspunsista, thanks for sharing.
@Rnt95, is the middle photo as it is now? It’s not so noticeable, but of course the best result is that you had a healthy outcome. I had one surgically removed a few years ago on my hip due to a potential melanoma, that’s left quite a scar but I’m fine with it. 💐

gluenotsoup · 11/02/2023 18:12

Thats a great result @Sugaspunsista !

Jeffjefftyjeff · 11/02/2023 18:12

i am thinking about this too so thanks for asking the question OP. I have no idea how you go about doing this - presumably privately? How do you know where is good? I live rurally ie nowhere near a big urban centre so would have to plan a bit

EileanMòr · 11/02/2023 18:15

Can anyone recommend somewhere in the SW? I have a mole similar to Sugaspunsista that I’ve been wanting to have removed for a long time!* *

mrs2cats · 11/02/2023 18:18

I had a mole removed from the side of my nose about 3 years ago after hesitating for a long time. Looked awful just after it was done but now there's only a small scar that's barely noticeable. Don't regret having the mole removed at all. Wish I'd done it sooner.

Highly recommend Dr Strawford at Skin Excellence. He has clinics in Plymouth and Wells. I have over 20 moles removed in one sitting using Radio Surgical Mole Removal. Scarring was absolutely minimal and some of them were large and dark. As others have said, I wish I'd done it years ago.

EileanMòr · 11/02/2023 18:44

Thanks for the recommendation Cams. That’s really helpful.
