There are definitely some threads on this on MN already.

I have ordered a Hypnos Wool Origins King Size from mattressman in January - I'm disappointed that it wasn't clear that it will not arrive until March - but that's only an estimate. There are so many similar mattresses - some are in stock and some are made to order.

I found you can't get a consistent picture - there is too much conflicting and TBH biased information on various websites.

www.slumbersearch.com/uk/dreamcloud-mattress-reviews

Is a site that looks useful until you dig a bit deeper and find that #1 rated Nectar and #2 rated Dresmcloud are both made by the same company (Nectar in the UK) - read all the small print about the motives and information on the site - I found I couldn't trace the reviews on this site to the original reviews.

Reviews on IKEA and Emma mattresses never seem to give a consistent picture in all the hunting around I did.

I found reviews in the broadsheet papers useful

www.independent.co.uk/extras/indybest/house-garden/mattresses/best-mattress-review-b2257466.html

but ultimately it was sleeping on a mattress that my daughter brought that pointed me to this mattress. We previously had a handmade mattress from a tiny firm - we loved that but it was like a bag of flour which is what we liked - when we were younger we preferred harder mattresses and really didn't like the softer mattresses in hotels, etc but now we are 60 and having slept several times at my daughter's we decided we would go for a slightly softer mattresses.. and wider... as my wife sleeps like a starfish these days (so we've had to buy a new bed frame). It all depends how much you want to spend too start with.

I've bought 4 Silentnight mattresses from matressonline.co.uk - 3 were top end models and one was a more medium priced and I was much happier with the 3 more expensive ones TBH. These were mattresses for my children and my MIL. Silentnight aren't really one of the glamorous names.

Really you need to sleep in one to have any idea.

Don't buy a Tempur unless you want super soft and hot in the summer. £4k and we hate ours. I always find Hypnos to be great. The heavier the person the more firmness you need. We are going for a 2000 springs.

Spanielsarepainless · 11/02/2023 18:28

Ours is M&S wool and silk with an integral down topper. Blissful.

KnickerlessParsons · 11/02/2023 18:30

Ours is IKEA. 6 years in and still comfy.

CC4712 · 11/02/2023 18:32

Watching with interest.

dew141 · 11/02/2023 18:34

We have a Hypnos orthopaedic mattress. Not cheap but it's so comfortable and has kept its shape well.

Ohifyouinsist · 11/02/2023 18:34

Sealy hybrid for us, so comfortable.

BabyTa · 14/02/2023 11:06

Vispring! Don't bother with rolled mattresses (Emma, simba) ours lasted 2 years!

Chibbin · 15/03/2023 15:15

Thankyou for your recommendations- I'm still looking.

Having recently spent a few nights at a Premier Inn in Scotland I can really see why people rave about their beds. Someone mentioned Hypnos but I think they've switched to Silentnight now for mattresses.

@dew141 and @larkstar have you got a link to the Hypnos one you have/ordered please?

oh @BabyTa we have the Emma premium and absolutely love it!

Seasider2017 · 15/03/2023 15:31

I’d say go for the best you can afford at the time
weve just purchased a Harrison & spinks cost
£1200 but if we have it 10 yrs that’s only 32p a day which is nothing in the long scheme of things. Plus it’s got 20 yr guarantee

personally I go for a good quality
H&S
Hypnos
Vi-spring (expensive)

have a look on eBay for these makes if they have your size, you will save they might have dust mark etc ex display

JimnJoyce · 15/03/2023 15:34

ooh good timing i started looking last night as im going for a smaller bed

amaretti1999 · 15/03/2023 15:40

Very happy with our Emma - cured my back pain in a couple of days.
A friend didn't like hers so returned it under the 100 trial period for a full refund.

JimnJoyce · 15/03/2023 15:42

i need one for back neck and hip pain

Sundayscented · 15/03/2023 16:34

We've an IKEA one, recommended by Which? about 3/4 years ago. Love it and way cheaper than others!

leafittome · 15/03/2023 16:40

We've had our Emma mattress for a year and it's great.

tuvamoodyson · 15/03/2023 16:56

We’re just back from a few days away in a Premier inn…I lifted the boot OM sheet to see if I could find out the make of the mattress…Hypnos! Utter bliss! I’ve never slept in a more comfortable bed! I’m going to get one, not sure which would be the best one though? I think there are different ones…

Just looked mine up - it was from My Next Mattress, Hypnos Orthos Elite Cashmere (firm) - about £800 (king size) plus £350 for the divan, then a discount on top.

Sallycinnamum · 15/03/2023 18:16

Premier Inn sell their own beds. My colleague has one and raves about it.

user567543 · 15/03/2023 18:17

Another vote for Emma premium

cowsaysmoo · 15/03/2023 18:22

We were very disappointed with Emma, we sent two back.
A dip on both sides developed after approximately two months, causing back and neck pain.

cowsaysmoo · 15/03/2023 18:24

We have dream cloud now, which is not much better tbh.

We have super king size bed and my husband is very tall, so maybe that causes the problem 🤔

Sorryyoufeelthatway · 15/03/2023 18:26

Vispring and Hypnos or the other handmade brand m&s stock i can’t recall

StillMedusa · 15/03/2023 18:27

Emma premium here, had it over a year now and love it. It felt very firm at first (our old one was awful and soft) but my back has really appreciated it.. just ordered another for DS!

sillyshirts · 15/03/2023 18:29

Millbrook, they're fantastic.
