DH is trying to stop drinking but still wants the Friday night experience with his curry.

Can anyone suggest one to try?

Try ghost ship 0.5

GailTheSnail · 11/02/2023 14:12

Brooklyn special effects or infinite session . Infinite session does a good choice of lager, pale ale, bitter etc

LLMS2022 · 11/02/2023 14:15

Becks Blue is the best I found when I was pregnant!

Anything from big drop brewing is good, they only do non alcoholic ones.

BouncingWorms · 11/02/2023 14:17

Erdinger. Would be helpful to know what he drinks now though.

Calciferess · 11/02/2023 14:20

Lucky saint.

Zhx3 · 11/02/2023 14:20

I like this one, brewed up in Edinburgh.

jumpship.beer/products/yardam-lager-2

You can buy it from Amazon or DryDrinker.

BumbleAlongBee · 11/02/2023 14:21

Becks Blue or Peroni

NotHooray · 11/02/2023 14:21

Alcohol free corona is lovely

justasoul · 11/02/2023 14:22

If he likes alcoholic Peroni, then Peroni is quite nice.

SouthCountryGirl · 11/02/2023 14:24

Heineken 0.0

PuttingDownRoots · 11/02/2023 14:25

The brewdog stuff is nice.

(Just a warning... for some idiotic reason some shops mix the gluten free and alcohol free beer together. Dangerous both ways... )

watchingpullimgepisode6 · 11/02/2023 14:25

I'd go for his usual brand. I buy DH lagers from Tesco and he gets whatever is on offer. Usually Heineken or Becks
The corona is lovely which is my preference but with booze in it

JennyDarlingRIP · 11/02/2023 14:28

Erdinger is the one that tastes the most like alcoholic beer, I couldn't drink it during pregnancy it tasted too real my brain didn't like it. However some of the brewdog ones are really nice, but lighter in taste than their usual stuff, I prefer that though. I liked the AF hazy Jane the most, it's light slightly bitter, fruity and a bit floral, really nice.
I don't like Becks blue but I don't really like Becks

ChaToilLeam · 11/02/2023 14:29

They’re nearly all awful in my experience, watery and overly sweet. Brew Dog was okay, and Schlenkerla do a very low alcohol lager that tastes much like the normal one but it can be hard to get hold of. (It’s a slightly smoky beer so not everyone’s taste, but I like it.)

Erdinger is the best of the low alcohol Weissbeers. But I’m not a fan of that beer style generally. DP drinks it quite often.

MoneyInTheBananaStand · 11/02/2023 14:29

The grapefruit erdinger is the best I think, I've tried a few

Ghost ship is ok. Nanny state is ok.

Stay away from the Doom Bar alcohol free, it's gross.

StealingYourWiFi · 11/02/2023 14:30

My partner likes Erdinger and Heineken best

SzeliSecond · 11/02/2023 14:30

Corona tastes identical to the booze one.

Brewdog is also great - depends what he likes though

mildlydispeptic · 11/02/2023 14:31

Another vote for Corona. Very similar.

chipsandpeas · 11/02/2023 14:31

Birra moretti

starryeyedchicken · 11/02/2023 14:33

justasoul · 11/02/2023 14:22

If he likes alcoholic Peroni, then Peroni is quite nice.

No way I think that's the worst one

Lansonmaid · 11/02/2023 14:34

Perlenbacher zero lager from Lidls is pretty good. Stella and Heineken zero alcohol are also pretty acceptable. I have drunk alcohol free Doom Bar but you can really tell the difference, the lagers are a lot better I think

yoshiblue · 11/02/2023 14:35

Claushaler is the best - Ocado sell it

Moretti also quite nice, Peroni is a bit tasteless.

Becks Blue - the worst!

Pouit · 11/02/2023 14:36

Free Damn from Estrella is the best convincing n/a lager. Big Drop are great for dark beers.

BouncingWorms · 11/02/2023 14:39

I wouldn’t drink either, but oddly when I worked in a bar becks blue was more popular than regular becks, possibly because options were limited but it can’t have been that bad.
