What’s Happening In Your House?

I need a nice comforting thread please folks! Been quite a week. One of our lovely bunnies died, lots of meltdowns/verbal abuse from DD14 & both me & DH not sleeping well. We were supposed to see friends tonight but have postponed that. I’m doing a mini roast for tea ( chicken). Today was a decluttering day but I only managed to do the kitchen & there’s more crap to shift. The whole house is a tip. I cannot wait until we can rip out our rubbishy carpets that pick up everything, get a new bathroom & have laminate flooring in our bedroom & possibly on the landing. We did consider it for the stairs but DH suggested painting them instead. We loved the house when we bought it but it’s become clear that everything was done on the cheap before selling.
A nice day tomorrow as I’m meeting a friend I haven’t seen for ages for lunch & a show. Working Sunday & making a yummy sounding slow cooker sausage casserole for tea. Love my slow cooker! DH & I always look forward to Call The Midwife on Sunday evenings.

Funny you should say that! I'm rewatching Call the Midwife series 9 (for the nth time). Have a homemade lamb rogan josh bubbling in the slow cooker.

Lying in my Oody as have been a bit unwell. Browsing cord sofas online and wondering should I stay boring and go taupe or go for burnt orange. Wrapped DS birthday presents for tomorrow and enjoying a basil & lime candle, fairy lights, tea and applying a gorgeous lavender & clary sage moisturiser. Feeling a bit more comforted and safe enough to move from bed. No news on TV or radio helps.

I’m off work on Thursday and Fridays but I’ve had a flare up of ‘illness’ Sony joints are all sore and achey and eczema has flared up around my eyes so I’m a bit moody and miserable today.
Had big plans for cleaning this weekend and was hoping to make a spring wreath for the front door but I’m just exhausted.
went to asda for bread and milk couldn’t even tempt myself out of my misery with flowers.
Ds has phoned me twice he’s working on his dissertation in a field I knew nothing about but rapidly thanks to his training I too could get a degree (not really).
Anyway tomorrows another day and hopefully will be better.

Today I did some errands to start then went home and had lunch. Then I hoovered and mopped. I also need new bedroom carpets but I cant see that happening as I need a front door and the hall needs painting first. Picked teens up from sch they are chilling in their room. I am thinking about making dinner but I have a bad back this week so trying to summon enthusiasm for that. And washing machine needs emptying. No point asking teens to help. They will not. I have difficult home life situation as they have issues that majority of families do not.

Hoping to watch some tv later but I also need to do some bits on the pc for work.

We are just finishing dinner. I have had a glass of wine with olives before dinner and have sticky toffee pudding and cream to look forward to. I am in my pyjamas and am doing as little as possible this evening.

It has been a stressful week chez dazzla, so to have nothing planned and nowhere to be is delightful. The dog is snoring and the cat is playing with her springs which keeps her occupied for hours ❤️

Sorry about your bunny. Losing a pet is so hard.

Well here:

I'm slumped on the sofa having a celebratory cup of coffee and slab of chocolate having managed to empty laundry box, and unload dishwasher and vacuamed and swept the whole house and cleaned the bathroom and toilets. - all since 3pm -Rock and roll life style here--

The dog is curled up next to me and the cats are stretched out along the radiator.

DP is happy because a business deal he's been working on for a some time has finally started to show signs of working out. He's drinking wine and reading emails.

DS (10) is in his room practising his coding for some kind of school competition next week

DD (17) is on a group call organising a party as far as I can tell (mental note to buy snacks and pizzas)

We are all having takeaway tonight because no one can be bothered to cook

MonkeyPuddle · 10/02/2023 17:57

Sorry about the bunny and the aggro.
im currently nursing a small glass of red. DD and I have just eaten our tea, DP and DS have gone to pick up DSD.
I’ve just come off 3 night shifts, finished this morning at 8am, so bar the hour nap DD let me have this afternoon, I’ve been awake since 3pm yesterday. Suffice to say, I am knackered!

Blessedwithsunshine · 10/02/2023 18:07

I am sorry about the loss of your rabbit op.

I am just about to light a fire. It’s cold.
Teen DD cooking her own dinner, I am trying not to interfere.
Running a hot bath for dd.
Feeling fragile and tired after a long week. Looking forward to eldest dd coming home for dinner and we are all going out tomorrow evening. Kids party on Sunday.
The house is clean and tidy, laundry done and feeling ready for the spring. Looking at new clothes on line for the spring: I will be glad to pack the gloves and knits away soon. Planning to buy some flowers for two friends that are having a really difficult time.

lucysmam · 10/02/2023 19:14

We've just broken up for half term today so having a lazier than usual kind of evening. We've just had tea and tidied up - dd1 is half way through drying the pots but vanished 🙄

Dd2's just been in the shower so will probably sit about, wrapped in her towel for a while.

I'm listening to The Killers - Wonderful Wonderful. Dd1 was in charge of music but 🤷‍♀️ I picked since she vanished to do whatever.

So today my partner and I took a day off work and went for a walk to a waterfall and lunch in a pub, picked all the kids up, they're just playing/watching tv/playing fortnite/out with friends. We've had burgers for tea because Friday, and the littles will go to bed soon and we will watch a Netflix series. Tomorrow we are going swimming then maybe to the park.

Thighdentitycrisis · 10/02/2023 19:20

@TeamadIshbel
a friend has just bought a turquoise cord sofa looks cool

I had a taupe one in the 2000’s and hated it

Chipshopflipshop · 10/02/2023 19:25

We've just had a homemade curry with apple tart for dessert, currently watch totp on iPlayer, drinking too much wine after a very busy work week. We've all the housework done and we're going to have a lovely, relaxing weekend doing feck all.
Waiting for kids to go to bed to watch The last of us, then it'll be an early night

GlassBunion · 10/02/2023 19:27

I'm sorry that you're not in a good place at the moment. Hang on in there.

Just had a chilli con carne , one of our favourite easy meals and watched an episode of Poirot. We're on season 2 now. A comforting evening, which I need as I'm awaiting my appointment for cataract surgery ( eek!)

Really keen to crack on in the garden but it's too cold for me.

Newlifenewme · 10/02/2023 19:46

After having an awful day at work I’ve come home to discover DH has lost his job :(. So he’s shut himself in his home office talking to friends and connections trying to get freelance work whilst he finds something else. DCs sat at the table eating the last takeaway pizza they are going to have for a while and I’m sat in the bedroom wondering what the fuck we are going to do now I pay the bills :(.

So nothing exciting happening here. All seems a bit grim at the moment.
