Scar on face not fading

I have posted before but can’t find my original thread. 9 weeks ago my cat accidentally cut my face when I was trying to give him his flea treatment.

It seemed to heal OK, my DH is a nurse and put steri strips on it, cleaned it etc but after 9 weeks I thought the scar would be less red and less raised. It looks awful. I do lots of presentations at work and can see people staring at my face rather than the screen.

Im so worried it will never get better. I have been using silicone scar strips which I’ve been told are amazing. I’ve been wearing them for the past 4 weeks but the scar is the same.

It’s really getting me down. I tried to make an appointment with a dermatologist and plastic surgeon but both said they wouldn’t see me until a year after the cut! As it takes time for the scar to heal. This should have reassured me but I can’t stop obsessing about it.

Can you put Bio oil on.

Valleyofthehappy · 10/02/2023 17:43

Yes I have been, just don’t know why it’s not fading.

9 weeks isn’t long. I have a chin scar from an accident, it’s a few years old. I have been using the silicone scar reducing strips since January but the packaging says it takes three months to see an improvement. I haven’t noticed any improvement so far tbh.

yes I read about the 3 months for the silicone to start helping too but just can’t believe the scar isn’t fading.

I was recommended to use lanolin on an operation scar and it was very effective.

It did smell though 😳

I saw your thread and was just wondering, how is it now? Can you give us an update?

Use salicylic acid face wash (CeraVe) and sunscreen (spf50)..

Hello mums. I need your help. My 2 years old girl hit, so we had to get stitches (5 stitches). We remove the stiches 5 days ago.
Suggestions how can I help the scar go away?
Do you have any experiences? How long does it take for scar to go away? 😢
